Best name in audio?
Years ago I was eating at a Carls Jr. I looked out the window and next door was a Mexican food place called Taco De Carlos. Now, I don't know if this was some kind of gag, or some dude named Carlos is making a statement about his anatomy.
Stuck in a Rut
The genres you've listed seem to be the main bodys for each. Have you tried venturing off the main path and exploring some of the other off-shoot flavors?About five years ago I discovered the old Bossa Nova classics of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao G...
Consumer Electronics Show,8-12 Jan. 2004 Las Vegas
Yes, the general public can attend but I think you'll need to produce some kind of information that shows you have an affiliation with a related company or sponsor. It doesn't mean you have to work for them. Sometimes a friend in the industry migh...
Upgrade amp or add sub?
I think upgrading the amp is the way to go.The Classe integrated you're considering may be a good choice especially if it's the CAP-151.The ones I'd look first are the Plinius models. You can get the discontinued 150 watt 8200 and especially 8150 ...
Vandersteen3asig pre BATVK5i , whats the best amp
Another amp to consider is the BAT VK200. It has drive similar to the Bryston, but not nearly as bright sounding. When used with the VK5i it is best to use balanced connections.
Bryston 4BSST bridged = 7BSST monoblock?
Elgordo is absolutely correct. I confirmed this with a Bryston tech when I was comparing both amps for a subwoofer application. The wattage might be close, but a bridged 4B ST won't be able to handle the very low impedance loads the 7B ST is desig...

newbie seeking stereo system advice
Sean, Elizabeth must have a crystal ball and witnessed all the audio upgrade mistakes I've made.If you're happy with the overall sound you currently have, then an amplifier upgrade might be helpful. But Elizabeth's advice to avoid the tiny step up...

Yeah, but if you eat a really bad pizza no matter how good ALL your components and room acoustics are, you'll still feel like Ca-Caaa.
5 things I will not do agian, what about you?
1. Never again spend a shit load on cables like I've already done.2. Never have as many preamps as I do now. Five.3. Never again buy as much exotic hardwood on Ebay with the intent of building cool ass audio racks and never getting around to it. N...
Can any multi-channel amp be bridged?
With some you can, with some you can't and with some you shouldn't. You should consult each manufacturer and/or owner's manual individually. For instance, the 2 channel ATI AT1502 and six channel AT1506 could be bridged into 1 and 3 channels respe...

What is more important ? Need some advice.
Eric, when did you get an AXIOM? I've had one for a few months now and like it a lot.
Tubes on Proac 1.5's
I own two different ProAc monitors [1SCs and Tab 50 Sigs] and run them with different tube preamps to a solid state amp. I like this combo very much. However, many people seem to think ProAcs perform best with an all tube set up, specifically Audio...
Matching Components
Hi Tony,Matching preamps to amps I feel is a matter of personal taste. And because of this, buying a preamp and amp made by the same manufacturer doesn't guarantee you'll like the match up.For two years I used a preamp and amp by the same company,...
