Subwoofers?
Yes, I'd definitley NOT run any main speaker through the X30. I run my ProAc monitors full range and use the X30 only on the sub. The X30 muddied up the midrange and killed the air when I hooked my ProAcs to it.
Subwoofers?
I'd definitely experiment with different sub positions and angles, and the crossover/volume settings on the X30 before getting another sub.I have an old NHT SW3P being powered by a Bryston 4b, controlled by a Paradigm X30 and have achieved satisfy...
Replace my reciever acting as a pre with???
Lak has a great suggestion, and I would add the Luminous Audio AXIOM passive pre which is only $125 to your list of candidates. It only has provisions for one source, but it will let you know what your system sounds like without the Yamaha in the mix.
Deepest Bass in the Known Universe...
Boy, God sure does have a deep voice.
SUB - Confuse?
For music I'd go with the REl.Don't put too much stock in what you see for sale. I've been on Audiogon for three years and have seen times when there are no RELs available and times when there are a lot of them. I've noticed the same trend for oth...
Adcom GFP-750 or Blue Circle Audio 21.1
Years ago I heard the GFP-750 mated to a Plinius SA250 driving a pair of Sonus Faber Concertos. While the sound was big and bold I felt it was definitely on the dark side and noticeably rolled off on top.Don't take my comments too seriously since ...
100w class A or 200 w class AB ????

Virtual Dynamics Power Three?
The Virtual Dynamics Power 3s are excellent for the price. I replaced Absolute Power Cords with them and noticed a huge improvement in soundstaging, and perceived volume. Everything just seemed to open up.
Bookshelf vs. Floorstand
Yep, same here. I use a sub/sat combo as well. Monitors with a sub allow you the flexibility to set up both independently so you can maximize the performance of each. However, finding the right place for the sub will require a lot of experimentati...
What does your common sense tell you?
Ken, I completely agree with the previous posts. You have been very fair and by starting this thread have proven to be honorable. If you've informed the first buyer you'd like an answer within a reasonable amount of time because someone else is def...
Ever popped a circuit breaker with audio gear?
No, but I smoked a preamp in my car and watched parts of my center console melt. Pretty eerie. And smelly!
How can i ......
I vote for destroying the cabinet! Good excuse to make a new, cooler looking one. :-)
How can i ......
Sean, you're gonna go "bonsai" on that thar rassafrassin' driver? You mean you're gonna sculpt Japanese trees on it? Hah!If you decide to go "banzai" on it, I'd definitely see if there's a way to get around the back to verify nothing is keepin' th...
Center speaker placement
Marty's recommendations make sense, because you'll find not having the voices located with the TV image to be really odd.
Subwoofers, and standing waves...
Thanks for the update. I asked because I have my sub along the right wall facing inward about midway between the main speakers and my listening position.I find that when the speaker is located further away from me closer to the mains the sound bec...
