Who tried Class D only to return to S/S or Tube
Hi Jeff, I suspected as much... The amp was probably a pair of M501 monos or M201 monos... Unlikely to be the M301 monos, unless each chassis weighed about 95Lbs. Each M501 chassis instead might weigh some 20Lbs, and is about 7.5 inches wide only....

Hi Jeffb28451, which Rowland class D amp did you listen to?G.
Who tried Class D only to return to S/S or Tube
Hi Phusis, your bring up an excellent point.... The problem of paper listeners who evaluate the musical experience basing themselves on printed graphs and figures... You find these types spread all over the tubed / ss / class D continuum.Admittedl...

Hi Tim and AIT, I more than sympathize with your shell-shocking experience with class D.... AIT you summarize it best when you describe the NewForce monos as "awful - harsh and screeching "... That was exactly my impression.... Let us not forget c...

Excellent idea for a balanced thread George... I have happily gone back and forth from class A/B to D over the years. In chronological order, here are my amps since 1998....Rowland M7 -- An uber-currented class A/B mono released around 1987 with a...
Audio Research Ref 3 vs BAT VK51 SE
Hi Pal, the ARC Ref 3 remains an amazing linestage, years after its introduction. When I purchased it, I did a number of comparative listenings, including BAT... And easily selected REF 3 because of the depth and harmonic richness of its bass, the...
Review: Merrill Audio Taranis Amplifier
Richard, Merrill Teranis is a wonderful amp for its $2500 level. It is more than congruent with my concept of what sound should be for a moderately priced amp. However, for my musical/sonic taste, Rowland Continuum S2 comfortably surpasses anything...

Hi ACMAN3, if you are asking if HFC makes magnet-based adapters that can be applied as enhaments to non-HFC wires, the answer is yes. See:http://www.highfidelitycables.com/products/adapters/rca.html Regards, G.
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
I suspect that Rowland Daemon at NY sounded even better than the one used at RMAF.... The NY unit had at least two weeks of solid break-in on it before getting to the show.Guido

Hi CalvinJ, yes you are right, HFC dos bring clarity and precision... But all by themselves, clarity and precision might also be interpreted as clinicality, which is far from what HFC does for living. For me, HFC brings to the table a combination ...

In continuation from my previous post… Last August, I moved up from the stunning CT-1 to the Ultra series for all PCs powering the Rowland M925 monos, Rowland Aeris DAC, and Esoteric X-01 transport, as well as for the digital coax between transpor...

Audiolabyrinth, the Pro series appears to be currently available for power cords. The highest line for speaker wires, interconnects, digital wires, and phono is the Ultra Reference. See:http://www.highfidelitycables.com/products.html But fear not,...
Review: Merrill Audio Taranis Amplifier
Hi Charles, you will find some class D amps still today having input impedances below 10KOhms from some manufacturers. But higher tier manufacturers tend to ensure that their class D devices have high output impedances to ensure cross-compatibilit...
Review: Merrill Audio Taranis Amplifier
Hi Ghosthouse, the low input impedance of Class D modules is by no means universal. For example the NC500 used in Teranis appears to have an input impedance of 16.5K Ohms, which is raised to 100K Ohms by the custom input stage designed by Merrill....
