Review: Vienna Acoustics Mahler Speaker
Yes, the amazing Mahler speakers are available in the USA at this time. I believe Vienna Acoustics is imported by SUMIKO. I heard them for the first time very recently at the AudioFest in Denver. The mahlers were featured in the Soundings / Rowlan...

MMAKSHAK, Yeap. . . sure did! G.
Reference DACS: An overall perspective
Teajay, your impressions of DP-78 match exactly my own on the older DP-77. Definitely sweet. . . but very euphonic. While I have commented elsewhere that the faithful reproduction of live music is a pipe dream at best, and that the best gear aims ...
Is Digital actually better than Analog?
GregM, you are absolutely correct. As the intrinsic goal is not realism, but hyperrealism, there will be of necessity be as many optimal versions of it as there are audiophiles, or at least broad schools of audiophiles.
Is Digital actually better than Analog?
Pauli and all, I still contend that the question of superiority of digital over analog is not only undecidable, but is likely meaningless and a false one. I grew up in Milan with the live music of the Teatro Alla Scala. I have listened to live mus...
Is Digital actually better than Analog?
Organic? Does that mean that analog recordings are supposed to be bio-degradable? 3D optical storage = surround sound? Not really. . . it only means that by storing data in 3 dimensions we may in principle achieve higher data density. . . how the ...

External Hard Drive Capacity.........
OIf you are set to using an external hard drive, why not go for broke, and get a Maxtor 1TB (terabyte) Onetouch 3? The maxtor site suggests you can get 16,000 hours of music out of it.

Let's Go for it MRT, time to sell our systems. . . then you can concentrate in writing virtual equipment reviews. . . and I can concentrate on ranting about stuff that I have heard only in my wildest audiophilic dreams.
Has anyone answered the real question?
Mmakshak, you have something really going this time. . . I trained in fact as a music composer while at college. Exercise became rather impractical when little pencilled black notes started to disappear from in front of my eyes in lates 70s. Gave ...
When is digital going to get the soul of music?
Cdwallace, I'll drink to that!
The current SOTA SACD player
Thank you so much Brent and Boa2. Yes, I did not feel I was being trapanated while listening to APL and EMM. As I said, both room sounded fairly reasonable.
The current SOTA SACD player
Gregm, my dentist's drill is a highly modded device sporting twin 6H30 drivers protruding gracefully from behind the handle. It has a marvellous midrange bloom. It is rumoured of having been re-designed by a former engineer of AudioNote.
The current SOTA SACD player
Fascinating discussion as usual. . . yet, I am still convinced that the BEST player in the world has not been built, and likely never will be. What is one audiophile's Nirvana, is most often than not another one's audio Purgatory. . . or actuall a...

Ah yes, don't we all love TRUE BELIEVERS?
