Review: Audio Research Corporation HD 220 Amplifier Dave, I'd be very intrigued if you managed to listen to your HD220 powered by an Elrod Statement or a Purist Anniversary PC.
tube question for ARC Ref 3 users PBB, actually I had heard that the pros at ARC switched to 6550C because of non-pro customer findings.
tube question for ARC Ref 3 users ARC initially shipped Ref 3 with 6L6G in power supply. They soon switched to 6550C. They apparently found it to be more extended/resolving and to controll bass better.
New Pass Labs X.5 series versus previous X series Magichandslarry, did you perceive any other difference between X350.5 and X600.5 except for power? Please elaborate. What is the rest of your system? What music do you listen to?
New Pass Labs X.5 series versus previous X series hocklin, have you considered calling Pass Labs directly? Folks at Pass are extremely helpful. New Pass Labs X.5 series versus previous X series Apologies to all. . . I corrected my previous post. I meant to say that the x600 was likely to be found a little leaner, not the 'x600.5'. Clearly a 'ooops!'
New Pass Labs X.5 series versus previous X series hocklin, I suspect you may find the old X600 to have greater authority and to be slightly leaner, while the newer X350.5 to have greater refinement, delicacy and control.
Review: Sonus Faber Cremona Speaker Brphilharmoniker, you mentioned that Mahlers were too big for your room. What is your listening room size? I have heard the Mahlers last fall in Denver at the Audiofest driven by the new Rowland 312. . . the sound was to die for. I listen almost e...
purist vs. concierto vs. elrod vs dcca power cable MRT, that's what I thought. And what would you call a PCS displaying such slight flare in the mid/upper-bass frequencies and being otherwise extended/flat elsewhere?
purist vs. concierto vs. elrod vs dcca power cable MRT, are you suggesting any bloom in upper bass and midrange is always matched by a corresponding attenuation of energy in the treble?
Best CD player money can buy ? MBL, Nagra, Naim? At the same list price of the single box APL NWO 2.5T -- which is a heavily modified TEAC UX-1 or X-01, you can also buy the newest twin box player from TEAC: the P03/D03. I have auditioned it a couple of times already, and it is a stunningly soun...
Break in period Hi Shadorne, you are in fact absolutely right. . . there is almost a feeling of ancient magic to the hobby. . . . Some of it, perhaps like break in -- may be in part due to things our instruments have still problems measuring, as well as to the oc...
Break in period Offense? That would be a little difficult Shadorne. I am rather enjoying your astute game of raising false targets, logical decoys, examples out of context, subtly corrupted induction steps, . . and projections of wishful thinking a priori of real...
Break in period I am not sure what Krytrons have to do with the price of wheat in Alaska, or with audiophile-grade audio or even Radio Shack-grade audio electronics, for all it matters. Krytrons, made by EG&G or Perkin Elmer are high precision / high voltage ...
Any Comparisons between VTL 7.5 & ARC Ref 3 Sherod, unfortunately a direct a/b session may be difficult. I live in Austin (Tx) and Pscialli's system is in Fairfax (Va). Taking my REF 3 along during one of my periodic visits is not feasible. |
