Synergistic Research Acoustic vs Precision Refere?
Thank you Opus, JPS, Purist, AQ etc. . . are not being excluded, however, I would like to discuss very specifically AR vs PR on this particular thread. G
Synergistic Research Acoustic vs Precision Refere?
Thank you Slvrtravel, info very much appreciated. From your characterization, I suspect PR may in the end be more of my preference for speaker wires than AR. G.
warming up the system
My old Rowland 7M monoblock furnaces take about 8 hours of playing time to stabilize sonically and yield their best when starting from standby. . . . more if you turn them on from totally off-cold. Current cool-running JRDG 312 takes longer than 7...
Synergistic Research Acoustic vs Precision Refere?
Thank you Grant for the suggestion, I may look into Reality cables as well. Kenscollick, both Precision and Acoustic Ref are part of the new Tessla series. What Tessla models are yours? What wires did you compare them to, and how do they differ so...

Speaker shopping Help?
"They need to be rich but detailed, non fatiguing. Tight bass that goes down to at least 35hz"Philefreak, except for exceeding your bass frequency extension spec by 13Hz, your description seems to match my Vienna Mahlers to a T. Reason I mention t...
Synergistic Research Tesla x4 speaker cable
Keep us posted Jimmy. . . something tells me there may be a pair of SR speaker wires in my system's future as well. G
ARC Ref 3: Tung-Sol 6550 in power supply?
The short answer is. . . there isn't such a tube, nor there is such a linestage, nor there is such a system that will sound "just like a live symphony orchestra."Your system can sound phenomenally fantastic. . . and yet it will sound always differ...
Best Integrated, period.
That is why on some CDPs, linestages, and integrateds there exists an 'absolute phase' switch. . . . just in case the phase of the recording were incorrect. . . and your ears could tell the difference. G.
Synergistic Research Tesla x4 speaker cable
Jimmy, no damage possible. . . but you must change only on one wire, and only at speaker end. Phase switch on preamp or on source is an 'absolute' phase. . . it generally makes little or no difference. G.
Synergistic Research Tesla x4 speaker cable
Jimmy, I believe that if the wires are out of phase, you just need to flip the positive and negative leads for one wire only at the speaker end. . . . if that is the problem you will hear a very sizeable improvement. . . if it isn't, they will sou...

Jimmy, have you checked with SR about break in requirements? I would not be surprised if a few hundred hrs were in order. G.
rowland capri, bat vk3i or vtl 2.5 ?
Stonedtemplepilot, as a lover of tubes, you may very well prefer a slightly warmer presentation. Why not try the AudioAERO Capitol II. . . it has a true analog output stage drivin by subminiaturized tubes that are aledged to last 10K hours. . . He...
Jeff Rowland 501s burn in ... a strange experience
Coffeey, admittedly switching amps are not good solutions for the seeker of instant gratification. . . . in fact, most of the hobby is rather for the obsessively inclined, to one extent or an other. G.
Dual voltage equipment U.S. & U.K. ??
Some manufacturers like Jeff Rowland now make their newest production with universal voltage power supplies that require no manual voltage switching at all. Examples: JRDG Capri pre, Continuum 500 integrated, Criterion pre. G.
