SSD Flash Memory ?
Eventually we will migrate from CDs to spinning magnetic drives to solid state memory drives in our stereos. The transition to spinning magnetic drives is already somewhat under way. Yet, transition to solid state still present some challanges. Be...
class d - anyone compared bel canto/CI/wyred4sound
TVAD, if you have last listened to a Bel Canto Ref 1000 Mk.1, you may want to have a listen to the Mk.2. . . you may find it to be more nuanced.
"D" amps, general discussion who's 1 and why?
Seems I found this thread a little late in the game. . . oh well!In answer to Steidlguitars. . . you are historically correct. It is IMO only in the last couple of years that several class D implementation have left behind some of the idiosyncrati...
Rowland Capri vs. the ynergy IIi
Husk, If you have any specific questions about those shorting plugs, I'll be glad to relay them to JRDG. I only know they are made by Cardas and I am leaving them where they are on my Capri.

Icarem, Kiwi and I are suggesting the Mk.2 version of the BC Ref 1000. The mk.1 version does not have the current rectification front end that is probably responsible for at least some of the musical subtlety of the MK.2. If the Mk.2 exceeded your...

Kiwi, your impression of BC Ref 1000 Mk2 does not surprise me. Have you compared BC 1K MK.2 side by side with JRDG 501s or are you summizing from notoriously fickle audio memory? Either way, I would not be surprised if BC Mk.2s sounded more refine...
Solid State Preamp recommendation for $2500?
Predictably, I echo the suggestions on the JRDG Capri. I have commented on this device overabundantly on Agon, so I will spare any more of them here. You will find specs for the Capri at:http://jeffrowland.com/CapriPreamp.htmSuffice it to say that...

I have not had the opportunity of comparing Bel Canto Ref 1000 Mk.2, Channel Island, and Wired for Sound. I have however listened to the lower power BC Ref 500 MK.2 for several hours at RMAF and I was extremely impressed by its subtlety and musica...

The lack of polarity switch on the remote has also a historical origin. The remote was designed in the late 80s or early 90s. While the Capri has what some of us find to be one of the best sonic/musical attributes in the domain, it is worth point ...

Audiofil, I understand your pain. You are correct in that lack of visual feedback on left/right balance on Capri may be somewhat annoying for some. The limitations are as I explained elsewhere, historical. while the signal-sensitive circuits of th...

Thank you Cyrus, isn't the little darling wonderful? The more I use the Capri the more I love it. Of course Capri is very sensitive to power cords. . . I have preferred the Shunyata Anaconda Helix Alpha this far, compared to PAD Anniversary and Ca...
Review: Sumiko Speaker Set Speaker
Thank you Dave, I admit that the Masters Set session was a real eye opener. . . I was totally blown how tiny changes in speaker position on the scale of perhaps 1/16 of an inch can have an effect at all. . . never mind a truly major effect on the ...

Into 2009; What rules?? Tubes or Solid State
RJA, you have a point there, tubes and SS designs both can yield opposite stereotypicaal behavior that I am not partial to. . . on the other hand, some devices transcend the most common idiosyncrasies of their class, and just deliver. . . music in...
