comparing a audioresearch d400 and pass 250
In 1997 I was set to replace an Aragon 4004 with an ARC D-400. . . until I actually heard one and was shocked at how bright and tizzy it sounded. That same day, I fell in love in the same store with a pair of JRDG 7M monos because of their liquid ...
Best amps for Totem hawks?? please help
Bobrock, what is your budget for this project? G.
Jeff Rowland Capri vs Bel Canto Pre3
Ben, Capri is not at all 'dry' or 'opaque' sounding. Capri is in fact incredibly revealing, transparent, and 'musical' to my ears. Furthermore, Capri is extremely extended from top to bottom and appears to have a very linear frequency response thr...
Jeff Rowland Capri vs Bel Canto Pre3
Thank you Dgaylin, it seems that more and more audiophiles are taking Capri seriously and are unwilling to part with it. . . Lately, it has become quite a scarce commodity on Audiogon for sale listings
Jeff Rowland Capri vs Bel Canto Pre3
Dgaylin, How do the Pre Pro and Pre3 differ sonically? Regardless, you are more qualified than I in commenting about BC linestages vs capri. BTW, I adore the Capri, and prefer it over the ARC Ref 3 that I had in my system prior to JRDG Capri. Guido
Any high end audio dealers in Aspen or close?
Oops Mofimadness, my horrible horrible bad. . . 'tis Soundings Hifi indeed! G.
Any high end audio dealers in Aspen or close?
Sounds Hifi in Denver is currently showcasing the Vienna Acoustic Die Muzick speakers as well as the new Rowland Criterion 2 chassis battery powered linestage. They are in fact the very 1st high end store in the USA to have a Criterion to demo. Ca...
Jeff Rowland Capri vs Bel Canto Pre3
I am mostly experienced with Capri, having had it in my system for almost a year. I have heard Bel Canto only at RMAF in the BC suite. They are both excellent devices. I suspect the BC may be a little warmer than Capri, but not having heard them i...
Jeff Rowland Capri preamp
Pause, you may not be the only one holding on to the Capri. . . if the drying up of used Capris offered on Agon is any indication, it looks like more and more audiophile may be finally ketching on that this is a great linestage, regardless of phys...
biamping Usher BE-20's
Lapierre, JRDG 201 are based on 500ASP modules and not on 1000ASP modules. . . they have half the power of the 501s. . . I would not use them to drive bass region of large speakers. Guido
New Rowland Criterion 2-chassis battery pre
Husk, if you think about it. . . English speaking audiophiles may be very well the only kind of humans in the world -- besides insurance scammers -- who actively plan for their precious property to be 'broken in'! (grins!). . . minor idiomatic mis...
How is your power bill?
Not sure what my power bill is. . . but I suspect the impact of my system must be negligible. . . I have left on my complete stereo (JRDG 312 class D amp, Capri pre, X-01 CDp) on at full power since Christmas and my wife just noticed it yesterday....
biamping Usher BE-20's
In the Class D domain, Bel Canto Ref 1000 might give you a little warmer bass. . . JRDG 501 might yield slightly tighter bass driver control. Wired4Sound I have not tried, so won't comment on it.
New Rowland Criterion 2-chassis battery pre
Obrigadissimo Brazcole, I did not know that my name was in the movies. Now going back to Criterion. . . you are probably one of the very first lucky audiophiles to receive Criterionin the Americas. That is why we are kindly asking you to write you...
New Rowland Criterion 2-chassis battery pre
That is exciting news Brazcole, please let us know the sound as Criterion breaks in. . . we want to know both sound using battery, and using the power cord. . . and of course tell us what power cord you use on it.
