Zu Presence vs. Devore Nines I did not listen to the Zu Presence. However, I definitely preferred the Zu Definitions that I have at home to the Devore Nines that I heard in the shop.
Zu Presence vs. Devore Nines I have the Zu Definitions. I auditioned the Devore Nines in NYC. With the caveat that the spaces and electronics were totally different, to me there was no comparison - especially when it came to tone, dynamics, bass, etc.
T.H.E. Show admission Again, unless things have changed, T.H.E. has a preview day "to the trade," but anyone can attend after that.
small audio/video system for elderly space I set up a system in my bedroom that included Celestion SL-700s placed close to the front wall and a wall mounted TV. The SL-700s do everything except deep bass, are small and mounted on intergral stands, and look good to boot. A decent DVD player...
What happened to Plastic CD Cases? I have no love of jewel cases. They waste space (even the slim ones) and are far from green. I much prefer the mini LP format. Also, more boxed sets are arriving with each CD in a cardboard sleeve, and the group of cardboard sleeves in a compact b...

Recommended CD's for classical good recording ? I find that some of the smaller labels often have the best recordings: Alia Vox, Reference, Two-L, Gimmel, BIS, etc. The only downside is that the smaller labels tend to have focused interests. The Arkivmusic website collates reviews and recommend...
Arkiv music Cds how are they? My experience is similar to Zephyr24069.
CD player connected directly to Amplifier? I have used three CDPs with volume controls to drive amplifiers directly. Specifically, both the EAR Acute and Ancient Audio Lektor Prime had analogue volume controls. There was nothing to fault either of them.
the best CD player between 6'000 - 10'000 $ ? For a year I used an EAR Acute CDP until I bought an Ancient Audio Lektor Prime. Both are excellent and within your price range.
Speakers for difficult placement. You do not state your budget or your ideal footprint size. I use Zu Definition 2s (footprint 12x12") within 4" of the back wall in my main rig and Celestion SL700's within 12" of the back wall in my bedroom. Both like to be "farther" apart. Audio ...
new small room, big change Or one of the smaller Audio Note speakers with corner set-up.
new small room, big change I use Celestion sl-700s in a small bedroom. If you can find a pair of SL-700se even better
Any audiophile who is on blood pressure medication There are a whole slew of BP meds and different ways to take them - for example taking meds at night rather than in the morning will change the time of their peak effect. Because we are individuals, the approach must also be individualized - espec...
2-way speaker with best bass Another approach would be speakers with self-powered LF drivers that can be tuned to optimize bass according to placement such as the Zu Definition 2s or the Rhethm Saadhana. Not sure if these would qualify as 2-way, but they are crossoverless. |
