Can I bridge Rotel RB 1080 Try Jsaudio, I think they're around D.C. they always have higher end brands listed here. Maybe they have something you could demo.
Nasty slap echo Agree with above posters that it needs to be addressed and can be mostly with furniture and etc. I am using bookshelves, thick carpet, rugs on the wall, fake plants, stuffed animals, basically anything to absorb slap echo. I too have walked around...
Can I bridge Rotel RB 1080 I've been on the lunatic fringe for 3 years now with the same speakers. They are potentially great, but can be mediocre with lesser electronics, room, cabling, etc. Rotel makes good stuff for the money, but will certainly be a limiting factor in y...
where is another good place to search for b&w's? The 800 sig. that I mentioned on audioasylum is located in USA, didn't list the zip.
where is another good place to search for b&w's? Audioconsultants.com (Chicago)has 802n listed as used. Audioclassics.com had some 802s not long ago, excellent dealer, two time happy customer.
where is another good place to search for b&w's? Audioasylum.com has a pair of 800 signatures listed, or wait till a legit pair turns up here.
Marten Bird 2, B&W 800 Diamond or Wilson Sasha I can only comment on B&W as I own the 800ds. If you like the Signatures chances are that you would like the newer versions. I can tell you the bigger B&Ws excel with higher powered amps. Mine went from a 500 watt amp to 1200 watt monos an...
Preamp or power amp has more impact to resolution? Replace your weakest link(s) and that will be your best investment.
KEF 107 v 104.2 I think the 107s have a 10" woofer where as the 104.2s are 8" if I remember right. The more I ponder this I think I needed more power to bring that woofer alive. Its too late now but it would be fun to have another try with those 107s.
KEF 107 v 104.2 I had each one a year or two apart back around 96. They're both good but the 107 images almost scary real and has a much cleaner sound. I had an Adcom 545 amp at the time and modest cabling but the mids to high were terrific. The bass was there bu...
Percentage of cable cost If I was still on the upgrade path 10% cost on cables is a safe bet. Before going higher optimize the room, a lot of what cables will add can be negated by reflections and standing waves. If unsure about major system changes in the near future sta...
Percentage of cable cost Buconero, I too was naysayer, an open minded skeptic if you will regarding expensive cables...until I tried them. Actually it pisses me off that they DO make a difference...even power cords! I really, really... wanted to draw the line, cut some co...
Where to go after Bel Canto Ref1000MKII Dhartwick, Good instincts, if you feel your room is off more than likely you're right. Having the same speakers as you I can tell you they have the potential to be FANTASTIC. OTOH because of their revealing nature, they can shine a spotlight on an...
McIntosh C1000 tube pre vs. ARC Ref 3? Googleli, The ARC 3 is no doubt a top performer, but in YOUR system the Mcintosh c500 would be a natural match to the MC602 IMO.
Mcintosh MC500 or Accuphase P800 I have toyed with the idea of tubes but never followed through. It seems that once people try tubes they always incorporate them somewhere in the chain from then on. I don't think you could go wrong trying a tube preamp as they sell quickly if you... |
