Can a Amp be "timeless" and compete with todays amps?
yes
Life of KT 150 Tubes
I agree with above, having owned tube gear since I was a little kid. I think you had tubes made on a Monday morning or Friday after lunch : ) It is a bit more than strange that Both amps died EXACTLY at the same time...   Hope you can get back ...
Upgrade path question with $2k to spend
Whats with the Yamaha?? Ditch that thing and buy a proper amp/pre-amp. The rest of your gear is fine. I don't get peoples addiction to clicks and pops. I have a very nice TT set up but hardly use it.....   Get a real amp and you will be a very...
Can a great system make a mediocre recording sound good?
Not really, you may just experience a higher degree of "not greatness."  I have found however, it can cut a little both ways. Several recordings that I thought sounded pretty good went kind of flat while others that had sounded dull took on a new...
The panic selling of tube audio had begun.
Hi JohnK, Hope all is well. It's not a panic sale ,it's just been in storage way too long and I don't think I'm getting a beach house this life time..... So, if you are interested in a 2nd owner HH Scott LK-150 in "barn find" condition we can ta...

McIntosh -- good for show, not for sound, says dealer
Love, hate or indifferent ( which is hard) from just an industrial design POV The stuff is visually stunning. And yes built like and as heavy. When those turntables came out a few years ago with the green platters! my GOD was there nothing more b...
I am enjoying my analog system, but what can I do to improve?
You have a very nice system. What are you doing about vibration and RF interference?? Putting McCormack Tip Toes under my amp did an amazing job in bringing the sound to another level. Improved clarity, wider/deeper sound stage etc etc, it was a...
All I Wanted To Do Was Listen To Music
I went for a passive ( gravity powered) drip coffee maker and NEVER looked back!!
It's time to do it! Please, your help....
Thank you all for the help. There seems to be 2 camps out there. One saying the PC route is dreadful and get a server and the others who say a computer with a good DAC is fine. Since I have all the pieces for the PC ( Mac) route I'm going to give ...
Lyra Delos or Hana ML
Dynavector,!!!  when I still played records my DYNAVECTOR - 20x2-H was an amazing cartridge and a great bang for the buck. Still being made!! that says something. I have moved on but if your still spinning then you should consider....
Need help choosing a new DAC
I have an MHDT labs Steeplechase 2 for my mac and a Kora Hermes, also tube output, that I absolutely love, for everything else. I have had less than stellar results with the Schitt gear If you ever looked under the hood of an Audio Mirror you wo...
Walmart, 97 cents, for Vibration Control
So glad to see other music lovers using OTC solutions vs high priced snake oil Audiophile gizmo's. My equipment rack, for instance, sits atop washing machine "Vibe Killers" They have a skull and cross bone logo (I want the tee shirt) how can you ...
