Admitting my error…
I should add: I looked at a lot of lots and they have one potential: to keep the good ones an sell the rest on ebay. Unfortunately most of them are just a collection of $1 records because they already picked out the good ones and sold them on ebay...
Admitting my error…
I only buy what I listen to, one by one, ebay and local record store. I would not buy a lot, what would I do with 80% of it that I don't want? Midsize university towns have the best used record stores, good prices and selection.

that LCH sub looks interesting, but pricey for sure (and I know I should not judge a speaker by its web site but it’s pretty flaky)
Maybe buying a different amp
You could be fine with the Hegel 190. But before any specifics, are you looking for new or used?  For new, you could try out a lot of different models for 30 or 60 days for as much as the shipping cost.
Sat front row at the symphony...
the origin of the symphony's layout is the Greek amphitheater. A pretty amazing and efficient design, with the aim for the best acoustics in every seat in the house. The main difference was that it was open air. So, the front row shouldn't be wors...
In search of quality mc Phono stage
I gave it 2 month, tried 4 different ones, at half your price range. I didn't try the Manley Chinook or Hegel V10 but those would be my end game phono stages. There are lots of options, pros and cons, I wouldn't overthink it, my 2 cents is that th...
Buchardt S400 Mk II vs Sony SSCS 5 in Bass
"They're more like entry-level speakers" - in the audiophile world, that's what thy are. In my non-audiophile world, they are fantastic :)
Care to offer comparisons? Wilson, YG, Magico, Stenheim, Rockport, Audio Note
this is the closest I will ever come to these speakers: by reading that somebody I don't know had heard them :)
Buchardt S400 Mk II vs Sony SSCS 5 in Bass
I totally agree with skipping a sub. Interestingly 2 years ago my list was (whatever version I could afford): Dynaudio, Totem, Buchardt, Revel, Sonus Faber (my 3x my budget list was the Martens, Sonner, Harbeth and Joseph Audio) I pretty much co...

@s7horton I first read you "charted a plane" :)
Buchardt S400 Mk II vs Sony SSCS 5 in Bass
I found the Dyna Contour to sound better than the Special 40. I think it's a pretty sweet deal, with a great balance of detail, imaging and warmth. I never heard the Heritage. It seems that everyone is lacking bass with these small-ish monitors. H...

@bluethinker66 Bay Park, in the middle of SD proper. Since I lived in Budapest for 30+ years I don’t know about the women being that beautiful but pretty spectacular for sure. I tried different subs: Elac, SVS, Polk, Klipsch. I settled on a Ma...
Describe the "new HiFi sound"?
@kota1  Sony besides the good things in technology played a big role in destroying the music business. Famous for its ruthless, tone-def (what a pun) executives. Remember the DVD region codes? It was a nightmare. If it was still up to Sony, you w...

@bluethinker66 Greetings from San Diego and from the same year (’66)! Yes, Dynas are hard(er) to driver. I added a sub to my Dynadio pair and it made a difference. But it took a long log time and trying many subs. For most music with moderate b...
