Music first or sound first?
@mikelavigne I wish! But I sure could make a lot of fun of audiophiles and myself about how weird we must look to the outside world.
Music first or sound first?
I have become obsessed with the sound quality so much, I barely enjoy music as I used to.
Listening position/speaker position
it’s just my instinct that you won’t get any improvement by moving the speakers to the middle. However 2,5’ from the wall is not much. With your room dimensions I would keep them 3.5 feet from the side and 4.5 feet from the back walls. This is fro...
Should we care if a piece of equipment comes from a pet-free, kid-free, smoke-free home?

what's woke and what's wrong with it? How does it affect audio equipment? Or was it just an attempt to politicize an otherwise normal post.  Based on most posts here, the average audiophile has no kids, no pets, and no sense of humor.

@dweller my attempt at sarcasm almost always fails here, there are always people who take my childish comments seriously. No I do not think a 1000 dollar speaker is better than a 1000 dollar times x speaker.
Oracle Alexandria turntable question
I wouldn't drive for the turntable alone, that's 3 hours. Shipping would be fairly cheap though.  Unless you have some particular emotional reason for the brand. I know I would drive 3 hours for Celestion SL6 speakers.
Oracle Alexandria turntable question
@thecarpathian I regularly spend (waste) $80 on old and imperfect audio gear to try it and then if it doesn't work out: sell it. I am probably in the red as I have 3 items waiting to fix. (I never fixed anything in my life, have disassembled elect...

@webking185 everybody knows that a 400 dollar speakers sounds better than a 4000 dollar speaker. (It also sounds better than a 2000 dollar speaker) 10K speakers just have the manufacturer's CEO driving more expensive cars, that's why they cost 10K.
Buying Used Speakers
I wouldn't buy used speakers unless I could listen to them first. If they check out, I would absolutely prefer used to new.
Thin Line Between Critique and Courtrooms: A Dialogue on the Recent Audiophile Drama
@kykat  he has a point and some good reviews of BS reviewers. It's amazing that Erin got in trouble for objectivity while these 300K subscriber reviewers have so little substance, you can have a drinking game for middle schoolers every time the r...
Records not stored vertically for decades
other than the records being pretty pissed at you and wanting to breathe a bit, probably no issues
Thin Line Between Critique and Courtrooms: A Dialogue on the Recent Audiophile Drama
@2psyop I couldn't disagree more, based on what I have read. Tekton had provoked it, people (here) have been reasonable and pretty soft on Tekton. He kept throwing rocks at the window until he broke it and he didn't stop there, he went around the ...
