I think your DAC is fine, the least problematic. Your amp is OK, but does it work with your speakers? Start with a small change, bookshelf speakers. Look for music that you love and listen and look for sounds that blow your mind and make you want ...

I know enough about projectors, had them for 20 years but thank you. I started downloading the internet, I will explore it when it completes.
Van Morrison Latest Record Project
it's a good album, but he had so many amazing songs, I wouldn't put any from this CD in the top 50.

@yyzsantabarbara probably the most incoherent rambling about projectors I ever read, I will never get those brain cells back

@arafiq it doesn't make a big difference what the asking price is, Half the people will offer 6K and half of them will try to resell it. If he's lucky, someone will be in the market for this exact model, and happily pay 13K

I have never seen more passive aggressive parenting on a forum. The OP can do whatever he wants with the advice, he is not your kid or slave to follow through with it and do exactly as you say. It's his ear, his equipment, his happiness.
Hotel California sounds good on the radio.
I couldn't stand it the first time and I don't get it, still.
Advice for bookshelf speakers
you are seriously plugging an AR review here?

synergy is a bitch. I would try smaller, more musical speakers first that you can return. (Revel, Buchardt, Dynaudio, Totem, Q acoustics, Monitor Audio, ....)

seems like giant speakers for a small room. But I would go easy on him, he is here for advice not ridiculing
Convincing your local dealer to let you try speakers at home
@hilde45 I meant no harm or disrespect to you. Your question and dilemma is fun and valid and helpful to a lot of us. I was just silly and made fun of @wolf_garcia
Convincing your local dealer to let you try speakers at home
@wolf_garcia I think you missed the last step: buy the hifi store, preferably next to a furniture store and you can then arrange it any way you want. When you want to take something home, you would just remind yourself: "this is my home"
High-end-turntables
@tablejockey exactly. Pay with a credit card and not any method (paypal, venmo) linked to a bank account.
That sound is right for me.
i saw an ad for youtube the other day, you can download it along with the amp and preamp and then print it out. Then you can play them as long as you'd like. If you don't like it, just upload it again, youtube will refund you.
