they are amazingly underwhelming aesthetically. (ugly in my opinion) I am pretty sure they sound incredible from what I read, I have yet to hear them in person.

this is a fraud. He sold you something he KNEW was defective. He is not a potato farmer, he is in the audio business.  Your easiest remedy is small claims court. It takes some work, but he will likely want to avoid it, it's a good deterrent.

Someone from Underwood HiFi reached out to me to address my concerns. I responded and I never heard back. It's such a typical and sad customer treatment, band-aid over the complaint and not the issue.
