No. It's just as tricky...
Thiel 7.2 vs Hales T-8 opinion needed
currently own a pair of Aerial 10TBetween 7.2 and T-8 - which one is better soundYou know what? The 10T you already have is pretty good as spkrs go.That is, the other two are nothing to keel over about compared to yours (and they sound reasonably ...
legends and new preamp choice...
The Cello is the obvious choice. I like the Ayre (actually had one for a while) -- but the Cello is better. Otherwise, just keep your Leben.
Active crossover advice for 1000hz biamp
Alan, in order to do this correctly, you need to match amplitude levels, bring acoustic centres pretty close and, of course, choose the optimum xover frequency and, not least, the best acoustic xover slope... a few other things perhaps, but the ab...
Powerful Tube Amp for SF Strads?
Since you're set on tubes and to second two suggestions above, go for CAT's tubes, and I hope you like the sound. (I did, immensly) There was really no problem driving a difficult load in my home. I.e., impedance drops, medium sensitivity, etc etc...
EAR 834P + Bent Audio Stepups = greatness?
I decided to build Thorsten's LCR RIAA phono design with E810F and D3A.Please keep us posted, even on developments if possible. Good luck
Our home system: How good it is?
In those old times things were more " easy " ( because that non know how ), I don't worry about tonearm/cartridge resonance frequency, about step-up transformers, about cartridge compliance or output level, about TT mats or clamps, about special p...
Any experiences with FM Acoustics Preamps
Greenfiledhk, a bit late in the day advise whether the SL Tube PreAmp Ref or RG3 MK4 will be best matched with the KRAFT 300I have used both these pres (some yrs ago). Sorry to be pedantic, and pls believe me -- there is NO way I can answer the qu...
burning in capacitors for phono stages
I suggest you use a variac and charge yr new caps in steps, starting at low voltage to slowly reach their rated level.
The eternal quandary
As if all this weren't enough, we must also consider SPEAKER positioning & room acoustics... Move one speaker & the violinist moves front stage; move it again and he is behind the cello!Pure gestalt
What Makes a Good RIAA or Line Stage?
Thom Give us some system context on this "perfect RIAA forever"I'm not the Dr but, were you to try digital (for archiving purposes I assume), I would recommend you use the 192kHz version. The system is convoluted &, of course, makes no sense f...
Any experiences with FM Acoustics Preamps
I really don't think you would be risking much with the FM -- in my time it really sang with the Kraft. The CAT also sang beautifully with the Kraft... admittedly, in tubes I preferred the CAT to the Erleuchtung (but the Erleuchtung phono is, perha...
Any experiences with FM Acoustics Preamps
Arupg:Why and what were your findings when you went from RG3 to FM and then transformer? The FM was far better than my RG3 -- which was really good, all things considered. The over-driving wasn't a problem, the FM unit had been already used with a ...
What If?
What speakers would you add into the room? Of course they cannot be too HUGE because most likley they would be moved out of the sound field when listening to the Khorns. Got any ideas?I have one -- based on experience (in a bigger room): Audio Phy...
Any experiences with FM Acoustics Preamps
I'm considering the single-ended FM-155 to go along with the Symphonic-Line Kraft amp.Coincidentally, I used an identical combo some years ago: a stereo Kraft with a 155 & later a 266. Both with excellent results, better than the RG3 & the...
