Lots of cubic feet
George -- we need more info to come up with ideasRoom dimensions?Which B&W are you using and how have you positioned them?Regards
Does length matter ?
Of course you should if you can.By connecting speakers to an amp you are creating (or extending) a circuit and, since in stereo we have two channels, i.e. two electronically identical circuits, it's good to keep them that way. By using wires of di...
Better/best fullrange nearfield speakers?
Strictly speaking and assuming your room is small, "full-range (i.e. 30-+20kHz), near-field" monitors for listening @ 2m do not exist. The Dutch&Dutch & Genelecs mentioned above by @djones51 come very close. To these I would add the Neuman...
BW 800 D3 Floor Speakers
Agree with Georgehifi above. The Rowland will give you a slightly warmer sound than the Luxman.I don't particularly like how either the Classe or the McIntosh are voiced, so I will not comment about them.
Music is sound, sound can be music
Nice & interesting post.Of course, in all of the examples you mention people created music -- albeit using different instruments.I have found, empirically, that the underlying objection many of these people have lies in seeing a computer as a ...
Hales Transcendence 5’s slight discrepancy
Does this happen when you feed both speakers a high frequency sine wave or music? Sine wave: both your speakers (tweeters) should measure the same.Music: who knows, it depends on the music, the mastering, etc. I am sure you are aware that one chan...
ATC SCM150 (or JBL Synthesis) (or JBL vintage) (or new Klipsch Jubilee)
Hi Juan,Do you think that “size matters” and new designs are not worthy in terms of sound quality and capabilities?? Yes, size matters definitely when you want to have a big sound -- rather than simulate big sound. Case in point: I now have small...
ATC SCM150 (or JBL Synthesis) (or JBL vintage) (or new Klipsch Jubilee)
Hi Juan, welcome. You will get very many different recommendations to your post, so I will focus on answering your questions instead.I have listened to, and auditioned, the SCM 150, modified Klipschorns, and scores of JBLs including their big 3way ...
Music and Gear
Surely a well set-up, well performing system enhances the enjoyment of music? A bit like comparing material and spiritual pleasures. Not sure where the comaprison comes in,.I like your simile, however: equipment: material pleasuremusic: spiritual
New turntable: TW or Obama?
@bobbydd From a performance point of view, i.e. extracting infomration from the vinyl, the Kuzma 4point + nig Kuzma would do the job. This said, there mey be other factors influencing your purchase decision. I also hope that the new table will soun...
For Your Edification and Enjoyment re "Burn In", etc.
@douglas_schroeder interesting article (with due respect to other, somewhat critical, responders above). Going slightly against the grain, I have experienced change in the sound of cables on one -- unique -- instance: when a cable is newly produce...
ARE WILSON AUDIO WATT PUPPY 8 FOR 6 GRAND A GOOD DEAL?
Addressing your original question(s), a) yes it is a good deal for Watt+Puppy 8sb) current stuff at this level are generally better but they come at a HUGE premium -- +26k is more like it:)!
Need a power amp for a pair of ATC SCM 11's
Presumably, you're looking for something good and reasonably priced.I have not listened to the new Quads but certainly liked their older models. Alternatively, how about considering one of ATC's own amps? They are quite good and not very expensive...
Are your current amps and other gear the best you've ever had?
Not even close, even though some of the devices I still have perform well enoughSoon to part with an MSB Select-2, parted with a Simon Yorke S4 TT / Clearaudio Praedikat - Insider / Goldmund Mimesis 7 pre / Genesis Technologies speakers / Symphoni...
Neal Young and Tidal
AFAIK, "MQA" is the brand name -- not a reference to the actual master. Somewhat tricky, eh:)
