Turntable Placement Between Speakers with Short Interconnect?
Frankly, I dont think you need worry too much about either placement. That said, between the two speakers is neither the quietest nor the best looking place for a piece of gear. OTOH, the long TT lead IC will slightly affect the loading parametres...
ATC or Audio Note (2-way)
I’ve heard both. It doesn’t seem likely you’ll get much more resolution by tinkering with the ATC and you’ll possibly compromise its sonic balance (btw most ATCs bar the big ones are bass-shy). Modding the AN will probably modify its sound -- but ...
I wonder what you would think if we scheduled a monthly Zoom Meeting?
I think it’s kind of you to suggest that. Judging by the responses so far, it doesn’t look like a community zoom will happen any time soon as people seem much more prone to bashing one another than conversing 😀
Do larger planar speakers produce more accurate sound?
Hi @chungjh   I am thinking about moving to a bigger room. The question is Quad 2912 or bigger Sound Lab? That (obviously) begs the question: how big a room? Since you asked for an opinion, mine is to go with the next model up (745) in the SL...
D'Agostino Progression Integrated Amp
I have listened to it. It's a nice sounding integrated, it looks good -- well engineered and user-friendly. It's not the ultimate in clarity & resolution, i.e. theMomentum is definitely superior (and more expensive). I listened to it driving ...
Audio Note Power Amps
(a friend)... straight out told me that based on his experience with a myriad of AN equipment, if I’m getting an AN power-amp then I should pair it with an AN pre or just get an AN integrated and that AN equipment doesn’t mix well with other bran...
Will I benefit from a subwoofer with 20Hz speakers?
Hi @dmilev73, to echo 1 or 2 posters above, No, you definitely do not need subwoofers in your room I would lift the 20-30Hz by a few dB and lose 6dB 90-60kHz, more or less as per @erik_squires wisely suggests above Bass absorption looks like ...
Power Conditioning on the Cheap
While a dedicated power line is always beneficial, getting a basic AC filter is simpler. I suggest you opt for a low-cost, pro Furman device like this one (or similar) and take it from there. You will most certainly hear an improvement.
Anything SS sounds better than D'Agostino ?
@inna No one really talks about either Audionet or FM Acoustics. I would be interested to hear the impressions, especially regarding FM Acoustics. In any case, there are probably 10 or so brands at the very top level to choose from, including a...
What Is So Special About Harbeth?
I have auditioned a few iterations of the 30 series and most of the 40s and can second the points made by @orfeo_monteverdi above (and many others). Harbeths are polite and, when you adjust to their presentation, you get musical cohesiveness -- as...
Linear power supply for a router
As long as there is enough amperage to power the device you're fine.
Subs and room nodes
Have you tried placing a speaker at the seating position, playing a bass tune and crawling around the normal speaker placement area? Wherever the bass is strongest is where you should place your speakers -- approximately. You mentioned that your ...
Linear power supply for a router
As you describe it, it should be fine. Presumably you want to stream music? I'd be curious to know if the PS change affects the sound
Rogue Pharaoh II vs Naim Supernait 3 for Revels
If I'm not mistaken the Rogue is cheapaer than the Naim -- so no sweat there. That said, the Rogue's much higher power output will drive the Revels better. However, if you want bang for buck, the Musical Fidelity M8s - 500 gives you about 500W fo...
Wadia 861 as a DAC
I have fond memories of this Wadia! You can stream music using the Wadia as your dac, however I would probably relegate it to transport duty and purchase a current spec external DAC. Reasonably priced (1-3k) DACs nowadays perform very well.
