RE:Magnepan Unitrac arm
The Unitrac was a good arm for higher compliance cartridges. I think it was designed with the Shure V15 and comparable ADC and Sonus cartridges in mind. I wouldn't really recommend it with low compliance moving coils.
Integrate amp for gallo refernce 3 speakers
Henryhk, sorry I can't be of much help in A-B comparisons as I haven't had those amps together in my system. My sense is that the Ayre is slightly softer sounding but I wouldn't take that to the bank. Plinius seems to be a quite matching sensitive...

I would add the Edge G3, Ayre AX-7e, Blue Circle NSCS and maybe the Bryston B100 SST to your list. Take this with a grain of salt since I have not heard the new A5 but none of the MF products I have heard have struck me as involving. YMMV
Looking for a crystal clear / dynamic tube preamp
The ARC LS-25 was a relatively expensive preamp. At the new price I wasn't in love with the LS-25 but it is quite viable at the used price. The original LS-25 used 6922 tubes. The Mk II revision (2001) used 6H30s. So far, the 6H30 preamps I've hea...
Looking for a crystal clear / dynamic tube preamp
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the Herron VTSP 1 preamp didn't have a remote control option. I know the Atma-Sphere MP-3 (excellent though it is) does not. Pkale69 sounded fairly adamant that he had to have a remote.
Looking for a good phono preamp solid state...
As Colitas noted the Rogue Stealth is very tough to beat at just over your price point. The Dynavector P-75 is also quite good, especially if you are using a Dynavector cartridge. Personally, I'd stretch for the Stealth over any other new or used ...
Best All-Around $300 PCs?
Has anyone actually directly compared the Cryo-Parts/Locus Design, VH "flavor" cords, BC 61/62, Zu Birth/Bok or other highly touted sub-$300 power cords in the same system? If so, your impressions and what did the system consist of?
Ayre vs Simaudio
Personally I vote for the Ayre AX-7e or possibly the Blue Circle NSCS. Are you bringing your Totems with you? If you are listing in different rooms with different systems forget about the results of your listening sessions as you have far too many...
Turntables better than a Wadia 861SE w/ Statement
Aoliviero, hopefully someone with more experience with these arm and cartridge combinations will step in but I can supply some general information. I will let others make the arguments for sub-$500 cartidges e.g. the AT-OC9 II, Denon 103 (& va...
Turntables better than a Wadia 861SE w/ Statement
I believe there are four variants of the ZYX Airy 3: low (.24mV) output, high (.48mv) output, and your choice of silver ("S") or copper ("X") coils. The US distributor is Sorasound, search ZYX here on Audiogon. The current price seems to be $2,300...
Liquid Ceramics cables Has anyone heard these?
I have not heard the CT cables but this business of A-B comparisons being impossible makes me very uneasy. Memory in general and aural memory in particular have been well documented to be very capricious. Although I trust my subjective impressions...
Turntables better than a Wadia 861SE w/ Statement
One of the simmering controveries in record reproduction is the issue of the alleged sonic signature of acrylic. VPI, Basis, Clearaudio, Scheu/Eurolab and Amazon seem to make up the pro acrylic camp while Nottingham Analogue, Galibier, Redpoint, S...
Turntables better than a Wadia 861SE w/ Statement
I'm in the quest for a new analogue rig myself. My finances only permit the moderately priced options: Nottingham Space Deck/Ace Space Arm, The VPI Scout Master/JMW-9 (Signature?), and the Teres 160/Origin Live Silver Mk II (or perhaps the Morch)....
SS intgtd- Ayre; YBA; Sugden; Bel Canto; Accphse ?
I have heard the Ayre V5 and the Sonic Frontiers SL3 but not together. I think it has the makings of a great match, probably many steps above the AX7. I think very highly of both piecesHave you called Bel Canto to ask about a cage for the SET40i? ...
SS intgtd- Ayre; YBA; Sugden; Bel Canto; Accphse ?
I'm a fan of the Bryston B-60 but it is playing well out of its depth relative to Ayre AX-7e or the Bel Canto eVo 2i II. I have heard the Sugden but not in A-B situations and I haven't heard the rest of your list at all. You might want to also che...
