Well based on these comments I made a set of Mogami 2534 xlr cables. I compared these to two other cables in my system. One that costs $1100 new and the other $400 new. I paid about $40 to build the Mogami cables.Don't laugh, but the Mogami sounds...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Devilboy, it is great when you find something like the LS in your system that really works perfectly and exceeds all your expectations. Very excited for you!I tried the LS in another system and it simply did not work. But reading everything here I...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Well the thing is this Paul. The LS sounded glorious in my system. Really downright glorious. The Atlas is a tube amp at heart in the way it sounds. It is a beautiful sounding amp. Quite special. The LS sounded amazing and let the Atlas and my spea...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Well, I am taken back. The Atlas amp I own is high gain(26 db) if memory serves. It is also a zero feedback design. It has a measured input impedance of 570k ohms. It has a rated input sensitivity of: 60mV for 1W output, 2.3V for full power. If thi...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
I am using an Aesthetix Atlas Hybrid amp with a 6sn7 input stage.

TRL Dude or Joule 150 MKII for Major Pre Upgrade
Thanks Al. I will check into the cable capacitance to be sure I am doing all I can for best sound.

Update. The use of a Jensen input transformer under the brand Iso Max completely removed the buzz to a dead silence. Simply place the input transformer between the amp and preamp. Single ended preamp into the Jensen Iso Max using my RCA ic's and o...

Jognsonwu, thanks for your insight. I am not sure how to wire such a resistor as my amp has a circuit board for each input tube/channel. Hard, if not impossible , for me to wire in a 1k resistor. Wish the amp was point to point wired! It may be po...

Correction the grid stop resistor should measure over 1000 ohms and often is a very high value.

Ok, did one additional measurement per the instruction Jognsonwu above.I measured the ohms reading from the RCA center to each of the eight 6sn7 socket pin numbers.I did this to check the input grid stop resistor. This grid dropper resistor is used...

Atmasphere,What about the fact that a Passive Lightspeed pre, cd players and a Bel Canto pre with average to low output impedances caused the same buzz with this amp? Does this rule out the high preamp output impedance theory into the Atlas?
Is there any truth to this question?
Regardless of the speaker's sensitivity I have found not driving your amp too hard and having more power and headroom available is a very good thing. In my current rig a highly touted 70 watt tube amp was displaced by a Hybrid amp with 4 times the...
Does listening fatigue go away???
I have been at this audio thing for 35 years and don't think it is the digital thing. It is system synergy and your unique set of ears. No, it won't just go away if you change nothing. Sorry.....I use a digital front end and no trace of fatigue wi...
