Tekton DIs or Legacy Focus SEs?
I just don’t want the poster or reader here to think the DI speaker is a warm sounding speaker. Nothing wrong with warm at all. Just hoping for the best info for potential buyers.  It is neutral, not warm. If you are suggesting they are warm compa...
Tekton DIs or Legacy Focus SEs?
One can tell the innate character of a speaker if their system is close to neutral and they have heard several flavor of speakers on said system. Also, if a speaker is warm sounding, like my previous AZ Crescendos, one would be hard pressed to fin...
Tekton DIs or Legacy Focus SEs?
Well your opinion differs from mine on the DI voicing. It is certainly not warm in the least. It is more on the neutral continuum . But, great to read different takes.  Warm speakers include AZ Crescendo and Harbeth 40.1s, both of which I owned. I...
Let's talk power cords
Try listening to your system without power cords and see if they matter.  Yes they play a critical role otherwise we would not need them. Try using a lamp cord to power your your bulky monoblock amps and see how that goes for your ears and system....
Duelund cast Pio Hybrid Copper/Silver or Rs series with Silver Bypass PIO
No worries on the oil. I am not aware of any such issues in real life usage. Oil impregnated caps have been sold for decades.  This would be especially true for crossover usage where there are no heat issues to worry about.
Tekton DIs or Legacy Focus SEs?
I would never call the DI speaker warm. They are rather immediate and present in the mids, upper mids and highs. They no not have a warm mid-bass character either. They are certainly a very resolving speaker, but as Charles says,  in a natural man...
Tekton Double Impacts
I see.  Thanks Ozzy. I can understand why he would shy away from that.
Tekton Double Impacts
Ozzy it seems we all want to “help” you. Lucky you 🙂. To that end here are more considerations. I think you are spot on wanting an external crossover. Did you ever get an answer on that? If I did not buy my set used, then I was going to ask Eric f...
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
No, nothing else at play here. Just the experience of seasoned audio hobbiests who have been there, done that with gear and wire and acquired real experiential knowledge and wisdom. All the insults and verbal tantrums will not change this fact.
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
Interesting idea.
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
I agree with @geoffkait I use a Cheap Terra Grand for $10. Will be trying Wireworld. Based on my experience it takes time to really appreciate system changes. I would say at least 3-5 days of various listening sessions. So I will give it a week or...
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
Not attempting to do anything but learn what you did.  I can’t read your mind and know what you did in the past or even what a “custom”cable is? What is it? No reason to attack and be rude. Your test is still ambiguous to me and others as we have ...
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
You used poor quality cable and thus the test has limited learnings for most of us. Too bad really. Should have tried some nice Wireword etc..., By poor quality, I mean common wire and shielding sort of like comparing Radio Shack speaker wire to L...
Tekton Double Impacts
Spot on James as I also learned the 2170 sounds best all on its own. Goodness you should hear the 2170 with the upgrade I outlined.
Tekton Double Impacts
James, did you use the 2170 as a total system or do you use an outside dac, amp, or preamp? Thanks.
