Bright High End Speakers = Bad Room? I often get the impression that a good deal of the members on this forum appreciate to be fooled by a speaker being non-bright on bright recordings, that is quite rolled-off in the highs. They seem to call it musical. And name other speakers more ...
Slight Hardness on LP's audiorusty - interesting knowledge.Sometimes they get it right. Emmylou Harris - Cowgirl´s Prayer track "Thanks to You" has fine handclaps. Her voice unfortunately a little edgy in my opinion. As often with Emmylou. Seems hard to record well.
Slight Hardness on LP's +1 onhwy61 Good advice not to tune your system after bad recordings. Bad is bad. Ben Webster - Live at the Renaissancefor reference acoustic live recording including applauses.LOKI is a nice simple inexpensive tool for adjusting the sound when you...
Interconnect Directionality That’s it. PF messed with the directions of their cables. Probably why I don’t regard their recordings as reference material.

The Knopfler/Crowell/Harris connection.. Happened to do the same. :-) Looking for recordings that are not too edgy on Harris vocals. A little hard to find. But the TTK is to me superior to ATRR in this respect and on the whole to me a much better and more fun recording. May be that I mos...
Do you guys like Adele's music? Thought this thread was dead. But if you like to listen to fine female singing and good music, why not search for the swedish Rebecka Tornqvist or the norwegian Karin Bremnes. You've heard Karin Krog "Joy"?
Am I the only one who doesn’t love Harbeth P3esr? The less bass (<120hz) these type of speakers produce, the better. If you want real bass you go for something else.

Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3 I would suggest speakers that are built to represent the recorded material truthfully before you enter into the more coloured world. ATC 11, 19, 20, PMC Result 6 (active) and Quested H108 are fine and affordable examples (all english). Also easy t...
Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3 My experience of smaller Harbeths is that they lack treble. A lot. If you mostly listen to voices and acoustic wood instruments they might be fine for you. They will not give you any listening fatigue.
KEF-LS50 with REL T-Zero? Anyone? T-Zero are nice and capable desk top subs down to 35 Hz. I run them with a PW AMP that uses the ARC room eq system. Removes the lowest bass from the monitors and as you say cleans up mid-bass. Indeed very good results. LS50/50W has in my opinion l...
Why does my old CD player sound so much better than my new streamer? Why would you want to pay a lot of money to tweek the sound to be warm and easy-listening and boring? Yes, if you like to listen to bad recordings but otherwise? |
