My stereo is haunted!! Sorry, not ghosted, just busy. Current working setup:Bel Canto DAC as DAC and preamp. Rotel CD player. Adcom GFA-555 amp. GoldenEer Triton Ones speakers. Next step: swap in Bel Canto monoblocks.
Some interesting stats from Discogs @anotherbob, "potential sound quality". Now there’s a freighted assertion. Two things: - a lot of music remains unavailable on streaming. A lot- streaming barely pays artist. We need artists.
A pleading request to manufacturers of amplifiers and preamplifiers. Class D amps...
Speaker Upgrade Recommendation for Current Analog System - under $10,000 Budget I've had a pair of Goldenear Triton Ones (no R) for over a year now. Very impressed. Previously I was running Acoustats. They can handle any kind of music and sound beautiful. I got mine used for a reasonable price- you might keep an eye out. Glad...
Rogue DragoN or Bel Canto Ref600 M I've had the Bel Canto amps for a couple of years now. They do not disappoint in any way. Musical, detail, sound stage. I have been using them with two different tube preamps and the result is stunning. They had the juice to power my Acoustats ...
FTC may end amplifier rule! ACTION NEEDED Sad to note how many discussions are quickly taken off the rail by the lunatic Libertarian faction here. Would be nice to focus on the audio. I certainly immediately no longer trust the opinion of those folks. Reflects poorly on the brands they a...
Finally found THE SPEAKER!!! @drewde glad to hear this was pre-COVID. I have also lost people. Always good to make such things clear. I have spent many years with Acoustat speakers and love the electrostatic sound. I’m now on GoldenEar Triton Ones. Glad you like your speakers...
Finally found THE SPEAKER!!! I hope this happened two years ago. With a person dying every six minutes from COVID in Los Angeles and the morgues filled for weeks now, surely no one is flying out of state to listen to speakers?Agree, BTW, that this appears to be marketing. But...
Looking for a CD player I use a Cambridge CXC CD transport and Bel Canto 2.7 DAC and it does sound good. Got the DAC used. I'm not entirely thrilled with the CXC. The remote is absurdly large- has controls for a whole system and only a few work for the transport. But mor...
Acoustat Electrostatic spearkers Not sure what you're asking... Love my Spectra IIs. If you're on Facebook, I suggest you ask questions on the Acoustat page. There are some serious subject matter experts there.https://www.facebook.com/groups/167493963322951
Historic recordings- best audio on reissues BTW, I am mistaken. I reached out to Pristine Classical once before to ask about their releases and to find out if their CDs are actual CDs or CD-Rs. They never responded. I suppose their streaming service is their preferred product.
Historic recordings- best audio on reissues Thanks for the recommendation. I didn't know about this. But it's not really what I'm looking for. They offer a relatively few recordings out of the many out there. For example, they have the 1942 Furtwaengler Beethoven 9th, but neither of the 50...
Does Anyone Think CD is Better Than Vinyl/Analog? What are you in it for? Some LPs sound better than CDs. Some CDs sound better than the same content on LPs. Can you find a clean copy of a given album on LP? Maybe. Is it a good pressing of that LP? Are there important extra tracks on the CD? Is i...
Point of higher priced streamer? @jaulbrich The streamer is just conveying the digital content. A CD transport can vary based on its ability to correctly read a CD and manage errors. The streamer is just taking the ones and zeros from the source (e.g. Tidal) and passing those dat...
Point of higher priced streamer? Since we're talking about digital data, shouldn't it be easy to prove there is a difference? Couldn't you checksum packages and compare the same content from two sources? |
