anyone using piega speakers?
I owned Piega P10s in the past, and they were not bright or fatiguing whatsoever. They were mellow and easy to listen to, with excellent tuneful bass and a big sound.
Wyred 4 Sound STP
LOL TholtI have their ST500 amp and I am very impressed by it. The preamp got an excellent review and a blue moon award from Sixmoons. Not that I usually put too much faith in reviews, but Srajan seems to feel it is in the same performance range a...
Upgrading from Wilson Sophia 2's?
If you change to a more forgiving speaker like a Verity, or a Sonus Faber, you will be giving up on the excellent Wilson clarity and dynamics.Your issues are most certainly room and setup related. It sounds like you have done some treatments, whic...
wyred4sound amps
I am a Wyred SX500 owner (powering Gallo 3.1) and I agree with Audiofeil on this one.For what they cost ($1,500 new) I have nothing to complain about. They sound dynamic, weighty and articulate in my setup. Smoother and tighter sounding then the A...
Wilson Benesch A,C.T. & Wilson Audio Watt Puppy8
I haven't heard the ACTs, but I have heard both the Arc and Discovery, admittedly in a so-so room. For me, the sound was dry and uninvolving, though it may have just been the room.
How to measure the frequency response
The Velodyne SMS will only measure up to 200hz or so, which is great for setting up a sub, but it is very important to measure the whole system's response for a full picture. The test tone CDs + SPL meters will only give you a few points on the cha...
Mega-Speakers from Linn Audio....
One other thing that is a bit fishy...If you go to this URL:http://www.linnaudionh.com/services.htmlYou will see that it says: "The suggested retail price is: $ 59,500 per pair"Then, if you go to this URL:http://www.linnaudionh.com/services1.htmli...
Pick 2... Ohm WMT,ML Source,Zu Druid,Gallo Ref 3.1
11 x 11 is too small for the Gallos. You will have major bass problems. Granted, you'll have major bass problems with anything in that room, especially with no real treatments.I also wouldn't put an electrostat (ML) in a small room. You wouldn't h...
ICE amps vs analog amps for bass
Just to clarify, have you hard other amps at home with your speakers that you liked better? Or are you basing this from hearing the speakers at another location in another system? If the latter is the case, room/setup will make 1000% more differenc...
Gallo REfF3's-All their cracked up to be?
Though it seems that the "mod" was successful for Jerry, I don't think we can draw the conclusion that it removes the need for the bass amp.
Mcintosh MC 252 vs. 402
For what it's worth, a local dealer who carries Mac told me that other than the additional WPC for power hungry speakers and large rooms, they sound the same.I can't verify this personally, as I haven't done a controlled A/B between them.
Outboard Dac's...Do they make a big difference?
Just busting ya man. I'll bet those VAs sound pretty decent as is
Speakers for the ears, eyes, and for the decade
I know you already bought Satoris, but I think Aerial 20Ts should be added to the all-star list of speakers here
Impossible? Small towers, efficient, musical, loud
As much as I like Merlins (I owned the mxe's for a while), I wouldn't recommend them for someone whose favorite music is rock. Imaging and detail are to die for on the Merlins, but they are not the best for rock IMHO, as there are more dynamic and...
Outboard Dac's...Do they make a big difference?
Dcstep - I took a look at your pics... Great digital front end, but you've got to build a room, and get some real speakers, man :-)
