a couple of questions about maggies
You don't need that kind of power to drive the MG12.Especially for the room size your putting them in..It's not too much ..but overkill IMHO.Checkout some of the Carver ZR series amplifiers if you just got to have all that power. Maybe a Forte 4 C...

Best overall Speakers for $2,500.00 or less, New?
Troutki ...did I say you can't get a decent speaker under $2500.00...I don't think so.I am simply stating to get one performance you will compromise another. That's just the way it is..there is no such thing as a best speaker.I know you love your ...
Best overall Speakers for $2,500.00 or less, New?
That's a pretty tall order for a new speaker in the $2500.00 range. Used at that price will open up the flood gates thou.It also depends on what you consider great bass. Some consider thumping heavy port chuffing ..great bass.Or do you want great d...
how do maggies sound with b&k st-140 amps?
I hear ya Eldartford ...I have mine padded down with 2 ohm resistors. It would be too much of a good thing for me as well LOL!!! I like the extention but it must be kept under control. I noticed things really opened up after bypassing the fuse and ...
how do maggies sound with b&k st-140 amps?
Highs a little on the weakside?? HuH!!Loonton I take it you haven't heard Maggies with the True Ribbon tweeters! I am talking 40 KHz extention..just how high do you need it? Bass isn't thumping on Maggies but it is very articulate and well defined.
Noise from tweeter
Unsound is absolutely correct! TI based Equibit digital amplifiers are as quiet as it gets. No Hums ,no hiss..nothing ! They have a hard mute built in so they put out no wattage ..unless a digital bitstream is sensed. The PCM bitstream is changed ...
how do maggies sound with b&k st-140 amps?
There are many models to choose from under $1000.00.I think any of the ones you have mentioned will work just fine with your amp and room size. I doubt you will feel the need to bi amp those models. Some of which cannot be bi amped without some mod...
Does a non-audiophile have to calibrate?
One easy way I get non audiophiles to understand this stuff is by sitting them down in the sweet spot(two channel music of course). Having them close their eyes. Put on a well recorded cd with good spacial information..something with several singe...
Does a non-audiophile have to calibrate?
Sorry my friend I mean no harm. I didn't want to candy coat the situation.I am sure there are others that are thinking the same thing..but aren't going to say it.I hope you truly enjoy your system and will grow to appreciate it even more in time.
Does a non-audiophile have to calibrate?
Nothing wrong with Monster power centers...if it's not that important to you why bother? You clearly don't have the time or drive to want to deal with the stuff. That is the difference between an audiophile and someone just looking for some good tu...
Does a non-audiophile have to calibrate?
Wow looks like you jumped right in Cap ! If not an audiophile ..you will be one soon enough! It takes time and a lot of listening to tune your ears. It's just something that will come in time. You can start with a sound pressure meter and run your ...
AMP for Panasonic XR45
Drubin you can also...if you have digital cable or satellite. Feed your digital output from the cable/sat reciever into the unit. And listen to high quality playback on music and movie channels.
need more smoothness
If your already using copper ICs and speaker cables.Next step would be a speaker with a silk / textile dome tweeter. Preferable a 1st order crossover..I find the 1 st order gives you the highs/detail on most designs but doesn't throw them at you I...
Looking for a used $500-$700 amp to warm up sound
Honestly my friend maybe you should look at other speakers.. if not happy with the treble of the Paradigms. I say again why waste the money trying to change the characteristics of the speaker by covering it up with an amplifier? There's surely a s...
