Lowdown on Sonic Impact Class T amp
What exactly do you want to know about these little amplifiers? They work well with high efficiency speakers. When modified these units really start to strut their stuff. The first thing you will notice when using a SLA 12 volt battery as the power...
Buget system idea?
Hi Cdc I really enjoyed the ClariT on my Omegas. I decided to scoop up a used pair of FTA 2000s with the Fostex 200a drivers. I'm really looking forward to hearing a single driver speaker that gets down to 30 Hz! It should be fun! I'm still waitin...
Buget system idea?
The single driver route is the way to go . If you want the speed of a planar without the size.Good luck!
Stereo amplifier for a pair of passive subwoofers.
How about a used Carver ZR series amplifier. These babies really have great control over the woofers. Or maybe even a Peavey GPS series . Both amplifiers are absolute work horses.Good Luck!
Front- vs. Down-Firing Subs and Amp Issue
Unless you listen too pipe organ music. A sub that reaches into the mid 20 hz region would satisfy most. As someone has stated earlier..the room does play a factor in extention. I use dual stereo 12 inch subs and have measured flat to 30 hz easily...
Front- vs. Down-Firing Subs and Amp Issue
Probably because most only think of subs as movie rumble boxes. Some do not take the time to hear the difference in a sealed or ported design. I like ported subs but only for Home Theater...where high spl is needed. This hobby has a very small com...
does more power=better quality ?
"I believe a lot of audiophiles prefer music that has hadthe harsh "edges" removed by some wimpy amp. You may prefer it - but it is not accurate."This may hold some water. But it isn't the case with all of us . Now your making blanket statements. ...
does more power=better quality ?
I'm glad someone let me in on the Anarchy thing. I was lost on that for a minute.Actually I'm still not clear on it.:-)Going from a listening stand point. I've always prefered the simpler designed amplifiers. The sound was always more open and tra...
does more power=better quality ?
I think this question has been ask many times here. More power equals better sound only if you or your speakers actually need it. Here's a SPL Calculator. It's fun to play with and gives you an idea of power needed. If nothing else it's fun to pl...
Best Subwoofer for Magnepan speakers
How about get two Adire Rava 2. Or just make sure your subs are sealed and you will be alright. Just like heads ..two are better than one.If you have the room that is.LOLStereo sealed subs are where it's at.No single sub with a single woofer/ inp...
Fostex based speakers: Cain Abby or Omega Super3R
Well.. good for you restock..I'm glad to see the combo working out for you. That sealed sub really makes a difference doesn't it! Imagine what two of your subs configured in stereo will sound like..it makes a big difference.Enjoy!
Digital Amp's
I suppose we all have our preferences. I prefer D or T class amplifiers, especially when powered from batteries over Class A. Class A would be my second choice in design. There's a haze lifted from the music when you get away from the Class A stuff...
Velodyne Digital Drive Series subwoofer in stereo
I agree with Mcreyn and some of the other guys. No doubt about it two stereo subs are very easy to discern from a mono sub or two mono subs.Infact once you hear it ..all your questions will be answered.
Can you ever go back and be happy?
I really missed my maggies at the beginning. But after listening to single driver/crossoverless and horn loading box speakers. I found my cure. Not going back to planars. I like using the lower wattage amplifiers. They just seemless noisy to my ear...
Omega Super 3 or Axiom M22Ti on Sonic Impact T-Amp
No problem Pete as I will bring it up once your speakers breakin.I'm having it modified further..It and the ClariT or what's left of the ClariT. I must come up with a new name for my tripath amplifier. It's going in a custom wood chassis designed ...
