Views of the Music Fidelity A300cr power amp?
Hopefully the A300cr has more transparency and resolution than its cousin the A300 integrated. This integrated amplifier is definitely smooth sounding. But you lose some of the qualities listed to get it. It is very easy to listen too gear if that...
Vienna Acoustics Bach Grand
I also agree with the previous posters. I haven't heard the grand but have listened to the older Bach including the Beethoven. IMHO they are all some what muddy in the midrange. The cabinets are beautiful..probably where most of the cost went to b...
To Dac or not to Dac
I agree the Arcam is a terrific player! I've spent a lot of time with one myself. I also agree you'll get a different sound with the DAC. Whether you like it will depend on your taste. I've put my $350 Audio Sector DAC up against the Arcam DV27. T...
Tweeter characteristics
Shadorne nailed it IMHO.
What will a DAC do for me?
Something like the Poth Audio Dac Ah $175 shipped would eat the stock Denon for breakfast. Hearing the difference would be VERY noticeable. If you don't hear the difference for the better. There's a bottle neck some where else in the system. Goin...
single driver with bass...????
Ttrhp,IMHO.. the F200A is a move in the right direction. Don't bother hooking up flea powered amplifiers to them. You need a good 40 or 50 wpc or more to wake up the big alnico drivers. You will give up efficiency but gain better bass and dynamics...
single driver with bass...????
Ttrhp,The Omega Grande 6 isn't exactly built for bass.LOLYou have a small 6 inch low excursion driver in a small bass reflex enclosure..it ain't going to happen. You need subs to fill in the bottom or get much larger single driver speakers. There ...
Spks. wood veneer is drying out.
Thanks Merganser for your suggestion. Once I finish up with my Scotts, I may try this. FWIW the original oil on the speakers was Tung Oil, it was drying up rapidly after the first 2 months from the original coats. I only use the Scotts once a mont...
Spks. wood veneer is drying out.
I've owned 3 different pairs of speakers that used the natural approach. All of them benefited from the use of oil in conditioning the wood. The signs I saw were dry areas in the finish. Less luster in certain areas and places where the grain of t...
Spks. wood veneer is drying out.
Scotts Liquid Gold Lemon Oil works great. This is what I use on my wood cabinets. Use it often and the wood will become smooth and silky over time.
Ring radiator tweeters - the future?
Eldartford,I was wondering if you ever considered the Silver Iris OB 15" Coaxial drivers. I know their not true FRs but do look very interesting. The cost to build your own doesn't look overly expensive either. I'm sure you have the skills to make...
Ring radiator tweeters - the future?
Yes you're correct they aren't. Although the links supplied are exclusive to SD designs not multi ways. To give you an idea..this is comparing apples to oranges. I'll use the Paradigm 100v2 and v3 speakers because they are so widely sold. I've als...

Ring radiator tweeters - the future?
Eldartford , looks like you've done your home work on this one. I wish you luck with the project. I know several Audiophiles that went OB. They all claimed never to return to a box speaker again. Thanks for the links Cdc.
Ring radiator tweeters - the future?
Here's a qoute from a owner of the same speaker that lives in NYC. He's right on the money with his description.Bemopti123Hi Ray, thanks for the compliment of the preamp. I will attempt to describe how it sounds. The system has a "robust" signature...
