Personal vs. Market Values Truffle oil...not to be confused with snake oil.
I wonder how many audiophiles there are these days Thought I’d chime in again, I was distracted by the side discussion about Das Kapital and economic theory. I come away thinking that the stories about audiophile sound reproduction dying have been greatly exaggerated.Tomycy6 - brilliant to look at...
I wonder how many audiophiles there are these days Frank...books in the house and not the library? YIKES! Next thing you know the big screens will be turned to PBS!But yes on growing WW interest, there seems to be a lot of interest in Australia as well. Some good, v civilized forums there. Unlike,...
I wonder how many audiophiles there are these days Three...you missed the point, I should have spelled it out. If there are 12 not 12M, then product improvements go away, quality recordings etc. this is why it matters.
Firmware update 18444R for Sony HAP-S1 / HAP-Z1ES Yep have been using new release for several days, much improved. No more issues.
Firmware update 18444R for Sony HAP-S1 / HAP-Z1ES The only complaint I’ve had with the Z1es is maintaining a connection (or re-establishing a dropped connection) with the iPhone and iPad remote apps. I think they managed to fix it in this update. I assume this is what they mean by “improves stabi...
My Amp is Broken - Not Sure What to Do - Any Recommendations? Lous is correct, the 3s are warm and hide a lot of warts on the top end. Likely why they’re often used with rock music as a source, esp. CDs
Amplifier Recommendations for Monitor Audio Silver 300 Speakers The MAs are a great match with tubes in general. I use them with a PrimaLuna DiaLogue integrated, excellent price / performance all around. Also agree Cayin or Rogue would work well too, both easier to find used.
Plinths for Monitor Audio Silver 8 $299 you’re killin me! Nice catch! Enjoy
Plinths for Monitor Audio Silver 8 Congrats on the 8s, amazing value. Did you buy buy them used? I ask because something isn’t right. They come with wooden plinths (in separate boxes), and screw in feet. That’s it. Btw the plinths are optional. MA says they don’t effect the sound. ...
How about a list of speakers that are time and phase coherent? Thiels and what else? Excellent discussion about this by JA, interesting...https://www.stereophile.com/features/100/index.html
It is hard enough buying new speakers, let alone older speakers to use as an upgrade Not to mention when one gets destroyed in shipping, insurance pays for one, and you need to find a buyer for a single speaker. Been there...Best to use a pallet shipper, but it’s not cheap esp. for heavy speakers.
Art Dudley Calls B.S. but without naming names - PLEASE DO! Seahorse...so Kimber isn’t a good price/ value product? Which puts us back where, $18,000 cables? Gotta love how the Forum convos get circular every time, never fails. Good discussion while it lasted.
Art Dudley Calls B.S. but without naming names - PLEASE DO! Good article, thanks for sharing. It also includes a link to a related one by JA. Though may I point out that now, 6 years later, recommended components includes interconnects for $18,000/M. And a number of others that are close.
Thoughts on the most difficult instruments for speakers to reproduce? Completely agree. I think we spend far too much time (and money) on equipment variation and not enough on recordings quality. This has been a constant challenge and frustration over the years, first with vinyls (dirty, worn, warped, and poorly eng... |
