Ideal lengths for specific Ethernet (RJ-45) cables
Depends on the impedance of the cable but from my reading 2-3 foot max.
Chord Ultima Pre 3
One thing to look at, are the outputs gain adjustable in a a sub-menu?
Non-fatiguing speakers in $10K range?
I know this is going to be a strange post in the mix of the other recommendations. but from what your describe your looking for,  I suggest you try a vintage set of large A/D/S speakers like the L810, L910 or the larger 20xx series even. I've had...
Not sure what to think
If your looking for an upgrade, i think your source is the week spot in your system. The oppo was great but its not the end all and DAC's have come a long way in the last decade. If it was me I'd invest in a CD/SACD player or DAC, transport + DAC ...
Quandary
I would not really consider your speakers to be "very efficient", quick search puts them at, 90dB 1W/1M @ 4Ω (2.83V/1M) that's rather average efficiency. you may find the 30wpc not enough. The 60wpc amp he's offering for demo will be a better matc...
Speakers for SET 8 Watt 300B system?
I ran some Living Voice speakers with my 300b for a couple years and it was some of the best sound i have had in my home. very musical. Little harder to find the brand in the Americas but worth the search. slim towers that go to about 35hz, 94-96d...
How much should I expect with a warranty issue from a large retailer/distributor?
seems fair to me you only have to pay shipping one direction. what are you complaining about that's great service specialty as they have been upfront and actually replying to your emails/calls. I'd be happy with their service, better then so many ...
Help me understand the current amp market
Your Luxman is an excellent integrated, your going to have to spend considerably to get better in separates.
Tube Amp recommendation for Thiel CS1.6 under $2k
I highly doubt your going to find a tube amp that can drive your speakers and be under your budget. There is not many hi(ish) powered tube amps out there let alone vintage ones below your budget. Then there is the re-tubing your going to need to ...
Mcintosh C49 C55 C2700 C2800
found this today.  Brother Vs Brother: McIntosh C55 Solid State Pre Amp vs C2800 Tube Pre Amp (youtube.com)
Mcintosh C49 C55 C2700 C2800
I have had a C2700 for some time now and can't say enough good about it, very flexible preamp, probably one of the most flexible out there. The new C2800 adds some remote app features that I'm not overly concerned about for my use. I bet you can g...
Would I benefit with Roon?
Roon is great if you need that sort of data handling and cataloging etc. I would avoid the Roon nucleus though its not the best made device out there and is way over priced for what you get. there are better options for Roon streaming IMO.  if it...
For city apartment dweller audiophiles. Have you ever had neighbors banging on your walls?
Footer as in what type? Isolation or coupling?  I used Isolation footers for years that helped with this issue quite a bit. Iso Acoustic's Gia's specifically. Coupling is not what you want to do for the people living around you.
why expensive streamers
I suppose I'm the outlier here as I have tried many streamers and have yet to find one that's reasonably priced for what you get and that actually makes a sound difference that's worth the silly cost of some of them. Personally I have a dedicated ...
Looking at a Mcintosh 275vi with upgraded gold lion tubes
Mac uses JJ tesla's in their tube gear so the gold lions will be a big upgrade IMO. the JJ's are rather bright, toneless, and rather unmusical. they are like modern SS amps IMO. I've changed all the stock tubes in mine with NOS tubes. but the Go...
