Which integrated amp?
Check out the Marantz line from the PM8004 up, very much worth consideration. Great warranty as well.
Reason for selling is...
Often stuff is not bad, at least that which is listed in true condition. Reason for selling for many and saying as much may simply be the truth. There are some who would like to know. Stating so is no more than what you may certainly do if you wer...
Recommendation for new 5-ch Amp
Have to ditto the above about Acurus amps. Have the ACT 5, older model now. If I had a need to change, I would give their line consideration. A lot out there, others I would consider, Anthem, Bryston, McIntosh, Marantz and Parasound. Happy hunting.
Power plant and power cords upgrades a real wow?
As your system is set for the most part, wondered what of the room. Have you given thought and resources to room treatments? This may yield bigger improvements that power cords and such.Along that line however I would first invest in dedicated ac ...
New reference Marantz compared to McIntosh
For what it is worth I have a McIntosh MA6600 and Marantz PM8004 integrated. The PM8004 is below the reference line of Marantz. The PM8004 is a tad leaner sounding. The MA6600 more warm sounding to my ears. Both are excellent. The MA6600 just more...
Integrated Amp with HT by-pass
MARANTZ PM-11S3 may meet your needs. For your budget you could add their top line video disc player as well. Sound wise, I have the PM8004 and find it to be quite outstanding. The reference series would have too be worth a look.
2013 Wish List
To very reluctantly sell some current gear to assemble a computer based music server. Thinking of going with the mac mini as the core.
Happy freakin NEW YEAR
Happy New Ears to all. Blessings
Christmas '12 Audio Upgrades?
Forgot to mention my wife along with the money did buy me a "Theatre Room" plague. A nice little addition to my small slice of peace on earth.
Christmas '12 Audio Upgrades?
Wife did make a present of $100.00 cash towards my next toy, which was indeed a surprise. Frankly I would not want any family to buy me audio gear as I would not want them to spend that much money on myself. Nor would they really know what to buy ...
Should listings include the age of the item?
Condition of the unit and use may be much more telling than the age. Buyer should always ask as many questions that may be of concern. Seller should always be ready to answer any and all questions or clarify particulars of a item up for sale.Prici...
Merry Christmas
Blessings to all. Happy New Year and remember the reason for the season.
Should I burn these?
Surprised you or anyone would keep them or any speaker that long if found so bad. Do you use the Bose supplied equalizer? Without it they certainly do not work well as they are designed to work in conjunction.Had 901's many years ago, lot of fun. ...
integrated amp w/phono & headphone
If you could find a great deal on new or used, the McIntosh MA6600 integrated amp. Superb in many ways. On the not nearly as much money, but very excellent the Marantz PM8004. For your high limit of spending the Marantz reference high line would b...
Upgrading Home Stereo
Good luck on your new direction. I have some Emotiva gear, their smallest amp to power secondary speakers, and the XDA-1. Both very nicely built and good sounding. And yes, good gear and good music is habit forming.
