Von Schweikert VR4JR & Tube Amp???
For the part of the thread that concens tube amps, I am driving my VR4JR's with the SQ-88 integrated tube amp, with KT-88 tubes at 55 wpc. This makes for a very musical combination,it sounds great at moderately high levels and low levels as well. ...
Are you open minded about loudspeaker designs?
Always tend to go for something just a little different. Whether it is in the drivers themselves or in the design of the cabinet. My basic premise is that the ordinary everyday type plain box design gives you the sound of music coming from a box a...
do yoy always have to pay full price?
Certainly not, timing can be a big factor however. Buying new gear,I have often found the best time to buy is in the spring, around the George Washington birthday sales. Places like to clear out all the stuff they did not sell in the previous year...
Von Schweikert VR4jr or Tyler Lynbrook system II
I have the VR4jr, and they in a word are musical. Be it SS or tubes driving them. Amp wise I have a 45 watt integrated tube amp, or employ a 100 watt SS amp. They can benefit from more power but don't need it. They can play loudly and sound great ...
Juicy Music Preamps
Peter Glad you asked the question about Juicy Music Preamps. I have not be able to try one as of yet and will be looking forward to your view on them. I would be going for the lowest prriced one as that would be all my budget will allow for now. T...
Von Schweikert LCR-15 or B&W HTM2
You would be best to go with the B&W for your front. It would be a better match in tone and balance to the front. That is of course that you will want to hold onto your 804's. To the remark by one that they did not see how someone who makes sp...
Which Intergrated amp for starter??
Look into the SQ-88 from Quest for Sound, a dealer on AGO and store located in PA area. Nice tube based system with remote volume control. It uses the KT 88 tube and is very musical.
Good Multi channel tube amp for $1000
You may be hard pressed to find a seven channel tube amp. I can think of few if any more than two channel tube amps.
Amps to use with Von Schweikert VR4jr's
For those in your situation, but perhaps on a smaller budget, like myself. May want to condsider using an integrated 55 watt amp, with KT-88 tubes. The SQ-88 from Quest for Sound. From a dealer on this site. A great musical combination. With your ...
Maggie 1.6 vs Von Schweikert VR 4
The Maggies are very hard to beat, regardless of the cost. If you find a sub that will integrate with them you will come out ahead, you will have it made, at least in terms of cost perhaps. In my case I was all set to go with the Maggies 1.6, but ...
Opinions on Music Angel or Pacific Creek Tube Int.
El34EHIn your post you mentioned adding to your collection of integrated amps. What other amps have you and how do they compare with each other? Not just in sound but features as well. In the times to come I would like to add a second amp for use ...
Acurus or Parasound
Having had an Acurus 250, I feel you can not go wrong with it. Drove my NHT 2.9s which were power hungry very well. It has a great built quality and really a great taste of getting into better gear. Only ever had a problem with the power on/off in...
Opinions on Music Angel or Pacific Creek Tube Int.
Just recently I purchased my first tube integrated amp. I have wanted a tube based system for many years. The two you mentioned I have also considered. My leanings of the two was for the Pacific Creek model. It seemed to have a better built quailit...
tube amp will drive von schweikert VR4-jr?
Recently picked up a pair of JR4's. They are being driven by a 55 watt tube integrated amp. The SQ-88, from Quest for Sound audio. Great combo, there is music in the air.
Buying used when you should have bought new...
My first rule is to buy the best stuff, from the best places at the best price you can get. Then if you have a problem it won't be a problem to get it resolved. As the saying goes "The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten." My s...
