Best Server To Run Roon Core I recently went with a fanless, noiseless Small Green Computer sonicTransporter and an opticalRendu with Roon and couldn't be happier. It plays MQA, 32 / 768 PCM, and up to DSD 512. And, of course, Roon with it's new 1.8 rollout is great to work...
If you stream music from the internet, I can't recommend this more highly Just went with SMG i5 and opticalrendu package. Andrew is easy to work with and very responsive to inquiries. I'm simply waiting on the opticalrendu package to arrive so I can fire this whole thing up.
Tweeters are silent on my Wilson audio Sofia 2 Both of those amps are prone to extreme clipping. I would guess you fried the tweeters.
Amp recommendations If you are hot for keeping those speakers then consider a Carver Crimson 275. Great value amp and change the stock signal tubes with some NOS tubes of your choice and you have a great unit that has you way under budget.
Should I use Speaker Spike / Isolation Base or Something? Check out Herbies Audio Lab. I replaced expensive Isoacoustics footers with Herbies giant fat Gliders and could not hear a difference at all. Much less expensive and the added benefit of being able to glide your speakers over the carpet if you w...
Speaker suggestions under 4k If you don't like boxed speakers consider OB dipolars like the Spatial Audio M5 Sapphires. They play acoustic extremely well. And IMHO, get rid of the Crown.
Do speaker wires matter Those speakers are pretty nice but you need a heck of a lot more than a vintage integrated with 26 watts to drive them. They are ridiculously low sensitivity. And, being a dipole speaker, room treatment and placement becomes even more critical. ...

Purifi Class D: Junk? Madavid0Just as a bit of info. Klaus builds his amps at 22 kohm impedence. Not 47.
Which tubes are the best? NOS tubes almost invariably beat out new production stuff....in both sound and life span. There are a bunch of NOS brands that beat the snot out of JJ's, that's for sure. I bought a Carver Crimson 275 that had the JJ 12 xx 7 signal tubes and I p...
Pass Labs x250.8 vs tube amps ChungjhI have an LTA reference 40 amp paired with a Don Sachs preamp. I used to drive a pair of very difficult Maggie 3.7i's with this setup and had no problems. That amp is a giant killer if there ever was one. Just stunning. Keep in mind it'...
Desire to try tubes Don Sachs has started to build his first integrated, the Valhala. Looks like another great design and is under your budget.
Are there any tube amps that don't give off any--- Linear Tube Audio makes an excellent sounding amp that runs cool. Tube life is said to be 20 years or more. Also Carver has its Crimson 275 that runs its tubes at about 1/3 the current of other amps. You can actually put your hand on the power tu...
Maggies to Tekton? I had 1.7i's and I like the effect of a dipole speaker. I can't handle the sound of boxed speakers any longer. Since you already are used to the sound of a dipole, you may consider the Spatial Audio line up. I went to a pair of X5's earlier thi...
Never Owned a Tube Amp and Want Advice As long as this is going to be your first I have a couple of recommendations. The Carver Crimson 275 is rated at 75 watts per. It will run on 6550's, kt66, kt88, (supplied), and kt120's. And the amp runs on a circuit that just allows the tubes ... |
