Best Way To Maximize Preamp Tube Life?
I also have the DS preamp and the 6by5 and its variants are anywhere from 6 to 20 bucks for NOS that should last 8 to 10k hours...at least.  The 6sn7 tube is not in short supply and aren't very expensive for NOS either.  I happen to like the Shugu...
A MEMBER IN NEED OF SUPPORT
All the best on a full recovery and rebuild for you and the family.
My New Magnepan 1.7i's sound dull and lifeless on the top end...why?
Sounds to me like you set everything up right.  Those stock steel jumpers are junk.  Pass Labs have plenty of current to drive those ribbons.  Anticables work well with Maggies but maybe you just need more break in time.  You may try tilting forwa...
Help selecting a power cord.
Paul Speltz Anticables PC did it for me.  Being a disbeliever for many years I finally tried a pair (with a full refund guarantee).  One in my DAC and one in my amp.  The improvement was immediate and very obvious.  I was shocked at the benefits. ...
Raven Blackhawk LE... am I going to be disappointed?
I would consider the Octave line of amps or even the Don Sachs Valhalla which is getting great responses for the ones he's built so far.  The Raven stuff is good thats gotten a lot of ink lately, but I wouldn't trust it to perform well with those ...
Holographic Soundstage ?
#jss49We are talking a 6 ohm 91 sensitivity easy load.  And we are talking 30 watts (the amp actually measures out at about 34 watts) with independent high voltage power supplies for each channel for the Valhalla.  A friend was running Opus 3's wi...
Holographic Soundstage ?
"If any one has some idea of such a product, please let me know. I am looking for an upgrade right now."Don Sachs has introduced his Valhalla  integrated recently and it is a giant killer.  It can use a variety of power tubes and its signal tubes ...
Does a Tube Dac make sense?
I have the MP D2 MKIII and love it.  The stock tubes are kind of dull but get yourself some NOS signal tubes and a good rectifier and it really opens up.  Keep in mind you can run 5 and 6.3 volt rectifiers and 12 volt and 6 volt signal tubes.  You...
Which amplifier should i buy
Carver 350 monos will handle any speaker you throw at them.  And at under 10 grand you will have money to spare to change out the signal tubes to NOS.  The power tubes are kt120's and with Carvers DC restorer circuit they run very cool and have hu...
Cables ... no longer opinion
Anticables are a reasonably priced option I've enjoyed for years.   I've bought more expensive but have always gone back Anticables.  Their power cords were the first game changer for me as to my opinion about cables in general.
Class D for a Tube Lover
Don't give up on tube amps.  Two that come to mind that have a control circuit that allows the tubes to run low temps are Carver Crimson 275 and Linear Tube Audio.  If you're hooked on the tube sound class D may not satisfy you, but try Digital Am...
Warning: China-Hifi-Audio.com
I've done business with them 3 times.  Never had a problem.  Pretty quick with shipping too and I always got answers to my emails.  Late last year I had a quad of tubes ordered and they were taking a bit longer than usual.  I emailed them and it w...
Your advice needed, speakers to buy $8K to $13K
I've had the Spatial Audio X5's for almost a year now and really like them.  Can't help you with size, although they are less than 4 feet tall.  If it's about being obtrusive in the room, I have Herbies Audio Labs slider / isolation feet and I sli...
Pimping your router
I went with an opticalRendu for the last three meters to clear whatever grunge was in the LAN.  Once the signal hits the fiber the noise can't travel any further.  It was a nice clean up of the sound.  Noise reduction in the power lines and LAN re...
Power regenerator vs conditioner
I have a pair of High Fidelity Cables Pro 1 DH Plus.  Stunning improvement to depth and soundstage, along with noise reduction.
