Monitors for Extreme Near-field listening Find a used NHT Pro A-20 system. Been discontinued for years but was one of the best. At $2000 for the system, it had to be. It is designed for exactly what you want to do.
Good USED XLR Interconnect Choices for $300-$400? I was suggesting duplicating what you might find in a recording studio...crown amps, mackie monitors, etc. to give you the same sound experience that the sound engineer created. I think CD's sounding like crap is somewhat subjective. Remember that...
Good USED XLR Interconnect Choices for $300-$400? You and many others here would likely go insane in a sound studio.....where the sound is mixed to sound good on various amplifiers, near field monitors and/or headphones none of which equal the perceived "quality" of the speakers and headphones us...
Good USED XLR Interconnect Choices for $300-$400? I think it's funny that audiophiles go to such extremes to buy the right cables so their sound is perfect...when the studios that record the music use pretty much any heavy duty microphone cable. While studios do select microphones based on what t...
Higher End USB Cables Am I understanding you correctly....you can hear the difference in USB cables...and USB ports?
Subwoofer budget max $700: new vs used, brand? A powered James EMB-1000 or possibly an EMB-1200 used would meet your price target. Very musical subs. I would stack either of them up against much more expensive subs than are mentioned in this thread....I had a 1000 now a 1200.
Best solid state amp under 1k Here's an out of left field suggestion. NHT discontinued their Power2 Amplifier which used B&O ICE modules...class D which is now being used in some of the newer very high priced amps. While I don't think you'll find any new ones around, you m...
Need recommendation for power amp under $250 I would add ATI and drop carver from your list. That's the ATI 1502 (2x125W). Most of the B&K's are also excellent. Just because you play softly doesn't mean you don't need power. More speakers are ruined by folks using underpowered amplifiers...
NHT goes...dark :- Hopefully, they will be back. They really need to stick to speakers...probably under $1000 speakers...when they return.Too bad they couldn't have just one more release of the software for the processor to add HDMI 1.3 and the lossless codecs.I hav...
Laptop direct to power amp? yes....however when you connect it, make sure that the volume on the apple is all the way down....and then adjust it louder as needed. You may have some hum/noise if you run the laptop off A/C. If so, unplug it and run it off batteries.
Running a set of NHT 2.5I You Yamaha is probably fine for your surround speakers, but you probably want a better amp for the fronts, center and definitely the sub if you don't have a sub with a built in amp.
Running a set of NHT 2.5I Give it a try....I haven't heard the two together. I ran NHT 2.5i's with an ATI 1505 (125W/channel) and never heard a harsh moment. I suspect the ATI is a far better amp than the amp section of the Yamaha, but your ears will tell you if the Yamaha...
No grounded outelsts Just to state the obvious....a ground to pipe is only useful if that pipe is metalic all the way to the outside of your house. Connecting to a plastic/non metalic pipe is useless as a ground. Just because the pipe you see is metal does not mean it...
No grounded outelsts Replace one outlet with a grounded duplex outlet. The use one of those inexpensive electric outlet testers with three lights (home depot/ace/lowes/....) and see if the outlet is grounded. If it isn't, the lights will show you.why guess when you ca...
speakers cut in and out if it's happening on all your speakers with different amps and using different sources then it strongly suggests a significant A/C power problem (or there are gremlins in your house).I suggest you replace your surge protector or your power strip (... |
