Whats playing on your system today?
Nada Surf, "You Know Who You Are".Chris Stamey, "Euphoria".Well-crafted pop albums and a nice change up from the intensity of Glenn Hughes.  Just leave either of 'em on repeat.
Where do you guys buy tubes?
Eddie - Should be easy for you to get some decent, matched current production 6550s.  For current production, I'd probably go with Kevin Deal at Upscale or Jim McShane.  just fyi - Kevin MIGHT have an issue with selling to you if he knows it's for...
Where do you guys buy tubes?
Upscale Audio, mostly.  Also, The Tube Store and, recently, VacuumTubes.Net (a division of Radio Electric Supply).  Have also bought NOS from the TubeMonger and Chris at PartsConnexion.  Good luck.  What type are you looking to get?
cable and interconnect advice?
Tritonmark - I used to be a cable-denier. Wire is wire, or so I thought. Don’t listen to me or anyone else as Herndonb has said. Listen to what your ears tell you. Talk to the people at the Cable Co. in New Hope, Pa. They claim to have a "database...

Trower is coming to our little college town.  Got a ticket.  Small venue.  Hope it is a good show.  Listening to Glenn Hughes' "Addiction"...harrowing and powerful.
Whats playing on your system today?
Repeating myself rad, but I definitely agree with you on how good that S/T Rory Gallagher sounds. It just makes me wonder why EVERYTHING can’t sound that good. A subject for a whole ’nother thread I suppose....If you could find the CD used for che...
Whats playing on your system today?
radfrad - just catching up with some of the earlier posts in this thread.  The original release of that self-titled Rory Gallagher you are talking about goes back to 1971 and is WELL recorded for sure.  That comes across very much even on CD.  It ...

jafant, pehare - what Beck for you? All I’ve listened to are Sea Change and Morning Phase. I gather those are not typical of his work??? Let me know if anything else by him comes close to those. THANKS.FWIW - tonight Robin Trower's "Twice Removed ...

Speaker choice : need help between Nola and Sonus Faber
Hi Zipline - Can’t help you at all on the Contender vs Venere but can tell you I recently purchased a pair of Silverline Prelude Plus speakers. I’ve been very pleased with them. I think they are crazy good for the price. I had/have a pair of Totem...
Best Way to Spend ~ $2000 for System Improvement
You are welcome xrayz.  For the record, I certainly did not intend any disrespect to Al.  He is one of the more credible contributors here and knows a heck of a lot more about electronics than I do.  Never the less, hands on/ownership experience d...

FWIW - I'm running a MF V-Link 192 USB/SPDIF converter in-between a Macbook Air and Schiit Gungnir.  I use a split USB cable between MBA and V-Link and a Stereovox digital coax from V-Link into DAC.  I'm not aware of any sonic problems.  As per Al...

pehare - don't know Grant Green.  Will have to check him out.  Beck, "Morning Phase", though?  An excellent recording of great songs.  In fact that might be what I listen to next.  Thanks for the input here.
Which artist do you absolutely love, but own nothing by the them?
Just checking, Tom.  STSOL is a great recording and  I agree with your assessment of the title track.  I think the Beatles homage idea extends to the cover design as well (at least to my mind).  The whole album works for me on a lot of levels - no...
Which artist do you absolutely love, but own nothing by the them?
Don't know if dbtom2 was talking tongue in cheek or sincerely about T4F Seeds of Love.  Either way, it IS a great recording...song writing and performances are very strong and sound quality is excellent.  Definitely worth having.
