Stand alone tweeter?
@gondo101 onhwy61 is exactly right about the S'phile findings.  Lowering slightly by removing the balls and perhaps even trying some toe OUT might be of help.  I also found positioning them closer together (under 7 feet apart) was helpful bringing...
Stand alone tweeter?
@gondo101 Taking a cue from dekay, I'm reminded of an old, less elegant solution if you don't have grill covers for your Forests.  Try hanging a piece of toilet paper (or two) over the tweeters.  Supposedly an old recording studio trick.
Stand alone tweeter?
@gondo101One additional simple "tweak" is, if you are using Totem’s "claws and balls" supplied with the Forest, take them off the balls. Just have them sitting on the flat surface of the claw. I found the slight lowering of height that results doe...
Stand alone tweeter?
@gondo101 Imagine my surprise when I checked your system and saw Totem Forests listed. I have had these same speakers for around 10 years now and am very familiar with their sonics. I am sympathetic to your finding their treble can be harsh. That ...
Upgrade power supply for Auralic Mini
Search on Linear Power Supply here and over on Audio Asylum. Quite a bit of discussion on the topic. Duster on AA had identified some affordable and good looking units from China. I went with an iFi iPower bought from Music Direct. It’s a heavily ...
No frills balanced ss integrated amp?
Thanks yet again to all who provided input.  Not integrated but skoczylas got me thinking about First Watt.
Jazz for aficionados
Okay...so that IS the correct link to the music you intended.  Glad you are enjoying it.  Pretty certain this recording had come up previously and you were scratching your head about the strong recommendation from one site or another.  Sounds like...
Jazz for aficionados
O - is that the link you meant to post? It goes to a track from that DeJohnette album, "Hudson". Did you mean something related to Orion 10? Let us know, please.  I’m always curious about "new music".
Let's talk power cords

Let's talk power cords
In the broadest sense, science serves and is subordinate to observation; i.e., experience. When observation isn’t supported by current science (in part, a body of "rules" or principles that help us understand, order and predict reality) the rules ...
RE: Suggestions for Tidal Streaming problems caused by Internet Connection Problems
I’m (again) having interruptions listening to Tidal but it isn’t just MQA files. It was happening frequently a month or two ago. Got better for a while. Now it is back again. Hard for me to predict when it will strike. Does seem like buffering int...
Schiit Audio headphone amps
I have an Asgard 2 for headphone listening but nothing to compare it to so I didn't reply to freezeray, initially.  I mainly use it at night for computer-based streaming Tidal (if it isn't buffering like mad) or Spotify.  Run a Dragonfly Red from ...
Suggestion on XLR Cables
"I treat cables as components...."@inna - Agree 100% with that part of your statement; however, I see each link in the chain as an opportunity for "sound manipulation" with the ultimate goal being, as you say, "more of it", i.e., more music!
Suggestion on XLR Cables
@bradluke0 Just yesterday I had a very similar experience. Won’t bore anyone with the reason for doing it but changed out AQ Columbia XLRs between DAC and Preamp for Cardas Parsec SE. Was very surprised by the improvement heard. Both pieces are fu...
Calling all Schiit Freya owners: question about amplifier pairing and heat problems.
phastm3 - Gosh the Taranis is some serious horsepower for 99db efficient speakers!  You might choose to use the Freya in something other than tube mode.  14 db of gain from tubes paired w/highly efficient speakers might give you a bit of tube nois...
