New Yggdrasil - First (and second) Impressions
Glad you finally got it! My experience with several pieces of Schiit gear is they take a long time to open up...dozens of hours at the least. I’d be listening for improved treble extension and a general opening of the presentation...more air and s...
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report
Takeshi Nishimoto - "Lavandula"Generally not a big fan of solo acoustic anything but this recording seems the exception to the rule.  Solo acoustic guitar nicely seasoned with subtle touches of electronica.  Excellent sonics, sumptuous guitar tex...
I Find Primalunas Ugly. How about You? Is there an alternative?
No, I don't find them ugly.  The curved grill cage gives them a bit of character, in my opinion.  Resemblance to a breadbox adds to the charm.  https://www.audioadvice.com/content/2017/09/25/primaluna-prologue-premium-review/
Is it possible to buy a decent tube amplifier in the $2000-3000 range?
rv - Did you opt for the Multibit upgrade on your Gungnir? If not, it is well worth the money. If you like how things sound now, you will absolutely love what the upgrade brings. "Upgrade" does not do the MB justice. It really is transformational....
Has anyone compared the Totem Forest to the Forest Signature?
Long time Forest owner.  I've not ever heard the Signature but while you are waiting for other input and a possible audition, consider elevating your Forests.  I'm using hardwood plinths and have them raised about 6".  I found this contributed to ...

LP's... Do they sound better now than 30 yrs ago?
I also agree with Chakster. Another issue is the limited production volume for current vinyl releases. Compared to the huge numbers produced for a given release back before CD, and now with way fewer record pressing plants, these limited runs and ...
Schiit taking orders (as of Dec 23) on Freya preamp
@lak Agreed...it does look like the currently offered LISST tubes are designed for Mjolnir or Lyr - NOT Freya. I though I read something on HeadFi about LISST for Freya...it might even have been Jason talking about a future LISST offering for Frey...
Schiit taking orders (as of Dec 23) on Freya preamp
No experience, lak.  Didn't even realize they made such a thing.  As with a lot of their Schiit, it looks interesting.  FYI - I'm curious about their LISST "tubes" and possible application of such to Freya.
Schiit taking orders (as of Dec 23) on Freya preamp
"Does the Freya sound over bright, etc."aberyclark - assuming that was directed at me...No, the Freya does not sound over bright to me. Bright/harsh is something I have worked to eliminate from the system, especially given the Totem Forests in use...
Schiit taking orders (as of Dec 23) on Freya preamp
@lak I don’t listen in tube mode very much and have actually pulled the tubes...not out of any unhappiness with the tube sound or noise level - though the as-supplied, stock 6SN7s WERE noisy! Schiit did very quickly replace a couple for me when I ...
Schiit taking orders (as of Dec 23) on Freya preamp
I've had a Freya for approx. 9 months now.  I remain very pleased with it.  I especially appreciate the balanced design.  I believe that is (at least) one advantage over Saga.  Freya's ability to accept balanced input made a big difference in the ...
Digital coax cable, real world experiences?
I've recently done auditioning of a few digital coax as well as USB cables.  I heard differences in detail, soundstage (width & depth), music image precision, and bass.  Ended up with a Black Cat Silverstar 75! coax from USB/SPDIF converter to...
Name three of yours the most favourite drummers
@geoffkait I absolutely should have known better.  Truth is, I was going to call you on it!  Suggest you were being ironic - not in earnest.  Never saw the movie so hadn't a clue.  The sincerity of tone was out of character for you (having read so...
Name three of yours the most favourite drummers
@geoffkait I enjoyed reading your opinions on Phil Collins and Genesis even though I probably take the exact opposite view of his/their discography. Prefer the prog rock stuff and enjoyed most of their output through And Then There Were Three. Wit...
