Upgrade power supply for Auralic Mini
Some additional comments about the iFi iPower using the 15 volt adapter for the Aries Mini.  I have a Freya pre-amp on the same side of the equipment console.  Soon after getting the iPower I did notice a low level sort of "warbling" noise when th...

SVS PB-16 Sub
FWIW - same experience as stevecham with a pair of SVS SB1000s positioned almost exactly as Steve has his 2000s. Mine are used with a pair of Totem Forests and at other times with a pair of Prelude Pluses that occasionally replace the Forests for ...

connecting a sub-woofer to a preamp
As noromance suggests,  a short run of speaker wire from posts of speaker to speaker input of the subwoofer has worked for me.  This assumes your sub has speaker level and not just line level inputs.

"Ghosthouse comes up with "Da Bomb".  You are very welcome, Orpheus and while duly gratifying, it's undeserved credit.  You know what they say, "even a blind squirrel....".  Was my neighbor who sent me the link.  If you are inclined to purchase, t...
Maybe tube preamp
PS - wish I’d added this to my earlier post.I am NOT saying there is anything wrong with Freya’s sound using quiet 6SN7 tubes (new production TungSols seem popular on HeadFi). Just that, for me, if I don’t need the gain that tubes provide, I am ve...
Maybe tube preamp
Have had a Freya for almost a year now. It is well worth the money especially in regards to functionality, flexibility and good sound quality (low distortion to my ears). I personally also like the form factor. It does have a few quirks. Freya rep...
Stand alone tweeter?
@dekay Understood.  Your suggestion reminded me of a post here from several years ago.  I think it was Tvad who mentioned the studio tweak of hanging a sheet of TP in front of the tweeter.  @gondo101 It did take a LOT of time and experimentation -...

@orpheus10 I'd be surprised if you did not already own this, O.  Amazing to me what music was being created in 1961.  Even then, I wonder how much else was like it.  Given the hostile reviews, I'm guessing not much.  "Chasing the Trane" IS a bit o...

Pardon the (non) commercial interruption. A neighbor sent this link tonight. Thought it worth sharing though no doubt not new to any of you veteran jazz fans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7m5joZPP0U&sns=em
