Thank you for the kind words. I am very much a advocate of forums being a place of information exchange and support, not place of self-aggrandizement, bravado, criticism, and personal attacks. My favorite forum is Audio Aficionado… it is a private...

VAC preamps - too expensive?
People that really enjoy well reproduced music do not generally hear a law of diminishing returns. They hear and are rewarded with a much more emotionally involving experience. The closer and more involving is worth the increasing cost to get ther...

ATC and Loki
I have definitely noticed most systems have a unique sweet spot in volume, typically not low volume. This isn’t psychological. Some do sound great at low volumes. I am confident that the differences among systems exist. However, I have been fortun...
Help Me Improve My Turntable Set-Up
I have to agree with church man. Schiit is really good for the money, but they are really budget stuff. If you want to get what the Harbeth’s are capable of you are going to have to significantly upgrade all your electronic components.
Auralic Aries
The Aries is a good streamer, with a great presentation and leagues ahead of cell phones, iPads and dozens of low and mid-FI streamers. It was never my intent to bash it. High FI has many levels of performance. Depending on your equipment you alwa...
Listening to digital and analog
@kcpellethead .My DAC is the Audio Research CD9se. Which by the way I compared in my system with a Berkeley Alpha 3 which is considerably more expensive than the ARC.  I found really minuscule differences between the two with my tastes favoring th...
Tube preamp enhancement of HT processor sound
My ARC system is a completely separate  system. You can see it by clicking on my user ID. My home theater is not shown, but is a high end Meridian Surround processor, a 250 wpc Rotel 5 channel amp, and all B&W 805 speakers, so it is all solid ...
How to isolate turntable from footstep shake or vibration
@millercarbon.”Engineer you say…”. I was trained as a scientist. I got out of school and needed to get a job to buy a suit and get money to move and look for a job in my profession. I was working at a start up company as a manual laborer. When equ...

@cakyol .I think you are on to a bright idea… maybe make it out of a more electrical resistant material and put it in a vacuum so it doesn’t burn up.
How much difference does a phono preamp really make?
@williewonka +1yep, my experience has been wading around the shallow end is pretty much the same. But once you get into the deep (high) end, the difference is profound.
Audiophile Vacations
I make my audio trips either a one day trip or fit it in business trip. Vacations are for the South Pacific or the Caribbean.
How to isolate turntable from footstep shake or vibration
@millercarbon .First thing I learned out of college. Got a job as electro mechanical engineer. I needed to have a perfect gripping material to coat a rotating drum that was to pull fiberglass. I got out my calculator and tables of coefficients of ...
How much difference does a phono preamp really make?
I have experienced many phono stages, and in general they are extremely important in the system as a whole. They are far up the signal path and dealing with a minuet signal, they must be very quiet and high quality to do it well. However, also the...
