Underpowered? OP. Thanks for the report back. I would not have thought that was the problem. While more power helps solidify bass, etc. That big a difference is surprising to me. But, really glad you solved the problem. For power conditioners, they improve ...
Do good power cords have to be stiff? Transparent are relatively flexible (the box can prevent some degree, Cardas are very flexible. Both are also excellent. Cardas are warmer… too warm for most of my equipment.
Is High End Audio catchin' up with you all? @mijostyn 😊👍
inexpensive phono pre amp I have been listening to vinyl while searching for great sound for over fifty years and regardless of the reviews, inexpensive phono stages have performed incredibly poorly and held back the sound my turntables. Everyone has budget constraints, an...
System bias Most of us construct our systems over decades as we cannot afford to just go out and spend $100K or more on a system when we are 20. So, as we buy the best we can afford we learn about how to audition, how to evaluate… the terminology, detail, sla...
I believe I experienced great PRAT for the first time I owned a Rega a long time ago… Don’t remember the model, but it was not a low end model… it sure was not in the same league as VPI and Linn… I am sure their top models are now much better. But PRAT is about every piece of equipment… it can be los...
Is High End Audio catchin' up with you all? @carlsbad Nothing personal… I hate you. 😁😇 I still ride 13 miles a day, walk the dogs a couple miles. Used to hike a couple times a week, regardless of whether I was in China, Japan, or Europe. Climbed small mountains when home in the US,...
Help me out with streaming... Streamers do a much better job than PCs or Macs. For years I used a MacBook plugged into the DAC on my system… I would unplug the MACBook so it was not being charged. In my office system I tried all sorts of software hard drives, power conditionin...
2 vs 8 tubes in preamp, sound difference? It’s all in the implementation like 3 said. All of my components have 8 or more. I attribute the sound to the Audio Research design.
Is AES/EBU or SPDIF connection preferred by Aurender N10, N20 owners? I have a Aurender W20SE and use the AES.
Anyone own Linear Tube Audio Amps? OP, I have not heard any LTA gear although I have read some reviews. From the reviews it sounds as if LTA is going to sound more detailed oriented and a bit less organic. A lot of audio products highlight the stuff we are used to listening for… de...
Rouge Audio RP-7 I read this posting with interest. I had recommended Rogue to someone about twenty years ago. It blew a tube shortly after my friend received his… it took out the channel. The owner argued that it was not covered by warranty… the tube did it, alt...
Anyone own Linear Tube Audio Amps? If you are interested in detail at any cost then don’t consider the ARC i50. But if you want beautiful music rendered in natural tone with great detail then get the ARC i50! I have heard the other ARC integrated, they are beautiful… midrange bloom...
DAC du jour In this category I would recommend a Schiit Gungnir… or if you are serious about high quality sound (I don’t know what your associated equipment is)… or will in the future a Schiit Yggdrasil. I did ablot of research for a friend… and got a Gungnir...
Bit the Dollar and bought headphones. I think your plan of getting a headphone amp first then a DAC later is a great plan. In general a headphone amp will get you the first big advance. Good choice of headphones. I have spent about 15 years upgrading from headphones connected ... |
