Who Tried Power Conditioners Over The Years and No Longer Use Them Today, Any Why?
Keeping up on the audio literature I realize that some people have power that does not need conditioning. I have never been one of those. I now have two direct lines for my system, one for my amp and one for my power conditioner which powers the r...
Do have anyone to purchase Audio Research REF 75SE in 2021?
I have owned Pass designed ss amps for 40 years. I now own an Audio Research Ref 160. If I had realized how good the Audio Research amps sounded, I would have bought one decades ago. Many folks that I know have purchases REF160s but cannot get the...
Vinylistas and Tubers - One and the same?
OMG, Columbia Record Club… I think I joined that in 1967… while in high school. Got a bunch of albums I didn’t like… but my parents probably would have.
Two surprising things I found that improved my imaging and staging...
Regarding rear wall and stuff between the speakers. I find it highly dependent on the speakers. My ribbon speakers didn’t seem to care that much about low racks (2.5’)  in between and liked the bare painted sheet rock behind them. My Sonus Faber A...
Smallish room speakers
Speakers are really a matter of personal taste. Certainly room acoustics play a big part how a speaker sounds. Your room is plenty big for a great system. It sounds like you are jumping around a lot… maybe not… but from what you said. Listening to ...
Advice needed re: new CD player purchase
All categories of components have made huge improvements in sound quality over the last 20 years… huge. And in general, as always, the more you spend (assuming good research and a carefully chosen component) the better it will sound. You listen to...
Headphone for multi-use
If you want high fidelity then Focal… don’t know what your price range is. They are easy to drive and very accurate. I have Focal Utopia and a very high quality DAP. But less expensive are good as well. To power from really low power Ultrasone Edi...
One big reason why brick and mortar high end audio dealers struggle.
I have a good friend that has a problem making decisions. He will go into a high end store and spend an hour or two asking questions… he goes to shows and talks his way through the show and rooms. He somewhat proudly proclaims he can waste an enor...
How are most audiophiles going from streamers to DACS
Typically optical is of poor quality. SP/DIF (RCA) or AES will have full resolution. Music streamers normally will not have HDMI outputs, those are for home theaters. A streamer can have a DAC with it. Normally if you talk about a streamer it woun...
Looking for streamer
I recommend Aurender. I have used a bunch of inexpensive streamers and a Auralic Aries G2.. then the SQ got really good when I got my first Aurrender (N100). After auditioning a N10 I bought a W20SE. Highly recommended.
Dealer Called.."Your Speakers are In"
Congratulations. It is great being happily impressed by new equipment.
Forum admiration and requested guidance
Congratulations for getting to this point in life. Honestly, great time to splurge on something you love. I’m a bit older… but I upgraded a few years before retiring so I could really enjoy it. I did! Then I was really lucky to be able to make a c...
Blue Lights
Great question. Nearly all of my stuff used to be blue except for my Sim Moon DAC that had really bright red… it bothered me… but still I never actually thought of adding that to my criteria for equipment. Fortunately it solved itself, I now have ...
One big reason why brick and mortar high end audio dealers struggle.
The internet has given tremendous opportunity to younger and less well healed audiophiles. If you have more time and learn to research well you can save a ton of money and have orders of more choices than from a dealer. Like MC says there is a lim...
