Spectral amplifiers and Duelund cables
+1 above.   I came so close to buying a Spectral amp… I absolutely loved the sound, but that requirement stopped me. At the time I could afford the amp… but not the cables and interconnects.
Poll: Most impactful component
The answer depends on the system.   My system is balanced and optimized, with all components compatible and at the same level. So, there is only one answer, upgrade my speakers from Sonus Faber Amati traditional to Sonus Faber Lillium. While the...
What should I do - PS Audio DAC with or without Preamp
👍😊 For most every system this is true. The preamp is the heart and soul of a system.
Luxman m900u monos vs m10u
OP,   Absolutely. When I was new to high end audio (fifty years ago) hearing details with new equipment that I had never heard before really tickled my fancy… and with bass that slapped me in the face. Later, a broad soundstage with individuall...
A rare opportunity (or at least I think it's rare)
Great confirmation you are on the right path. I have a friend that is a professional acoustic guitar musician making albums and playing concerts for the last fourth years. He completely lost himself in my system when playing some of his recordings...
Internet Noise: A Pest in the Machine
I would buy a cheap wall wart extender and plug your Aurender into that. This will isolate you from the router. This is how my systems work, from extenders.   If that doesn’t work. Swap out all the tubes… you should have a spare set anyway. If i...
Can you give me your speaker suggestions?
You sound like a B&W guy. They completely play to your tastes. Load them up with watts (MacIntosh) and you’ll be in Heaven. Go listen to them.
Internet Noise: A Pest in the Machine
@steakster    +1. I made the mistake of having a friend buy a TP-Link router… it was faulty. I have had several Nighthawks now… they work great for a couple years, easy to install and add on extenders for streamers.
Luxman m900u monos vs m10u
Whether this is the amp (either Luxman) for you or not depends on what you’re looking for in sound. I spent several hours with a M-10x and was completely unimpressed. It was clean and well controlled… but completely uninspiring. Same problem I hav...
Your audiophile chair
Leather low backed (shoulder height… so the back does not interfere with sound) love seat from Wayfair so my doggies can sit next to me.
What sonic qualities connects to you deeply and emotionally?
Rhythm & Pace and midrange bloom.
The weirdness of it all
Yep, welcome to the world of high end audio. Interconnects, power cords and cables are the bread and butter of getting a system to peak performance: a critical one.
need advise, which is the weakest link in my audio chain
Thanks. Nice photo. Yes, that looks like a challenging room. And the solution will be lots of dampening.   Are the big rectangular  objects in the corner bass traps? Your room looks perfect for tube traps. I would go to their site. You’ll see tha...
Is there a ceiling limit on what you are willing to pay for an audio component?
It is a function of your income / value of sound quality.   I am retired. Right now my sweet spot is $35K for speakers and ~ $20K per component… about 8 of them. If my investment portfolio were to double I would double the investment in my speake...
Newest Audio Research News:
No effect. I bought my first Audio Research component in 1980 (used). I used it for an over a decade, and a friend of mine still has it and is using it… over 40 years later.
