A Story about a Defective Signature Platinum Just my own personal view on turntables and cartridges. First, I am not dexterously endowed… nor do I have a lot of patience with little stuff. So, I always purchase my analog end from a dealer. I never touch it, but to use it. He comes to my hous...
Am I broken? Am I stuck? Do I have to return my audiophile card now? @pmiller115 Thank you for your follow up comment. Yes, we are using compromise in the same way. I have found that sideways moves in audio equipment virtually always amounts to compromise; trading one set of strengths and weaknesses for anoth...
dacs that I have had in my system - a listing @jjss49 Thanks for the overview of your testing Odyssey. I must admit to a much shorter list, but similar conclusion.
As A Youngster, What Unit Puqued Your Interest In All This? This has to be a classic Marantz Model One (?)… the one with the oscilloscope.

Tube microphonics These days ARC only puts dampening rings on small tubes. Not big power tubes. This does not take away from the argument that tubes can be microphonic. I suspect the large power tubes may run so hot, that they cannot use those dampeners.
Am I broken? Am I stuck? Do I have to return my audiophile card now? @pmiller115 I have seldom ever experienced compromise in the pursuit of the high end in either my home theater or audio systems. There are some rules: always research the heck out of any purchase, and never spend less that twice as much on the n...
"Can You Lift Yours?" I would imagine most of us who have been into high end audio for decades own a hand truck, “sliders”, and a fulcrum to tip heavy weights so you can put the sliders under them. Also, we have brains. I remember a few years ago I bought a large s...
Why Don’t You Post Your System on Your Profile? @vonhelmholtz …”Your concern seems to me to be a difficult way for thieves to target wealthy individuals…” +1 Not a realistic concern. High end equipment weighs a ton. Not exactly ideal to extract, transport and fence. Also, a lot of us are reti...
Headphones vs speakers…. I think @mahgister brings out that you can make tremendous improvements after you finalize your equipment. It takes work and is only limited by your imagination and effort. While for me that is for my main system. He took it to crazy levels with h...
Balanced/Differential tube preamplifier recommendation? @soix +1 OP, I get that… hard to know what you don’t know. Fyi. I have all ARC gear… it is fully balanced. I had both a pair of Transparent RCA and Balanced interconnects. ARC recommends using balanced. So, I tried both. It is really easy t...
Fun With Cable Risers OP “I have always found it hilarious that people theorize something can't work, so just assume they have to be right…” Well put. 👍
Streamer suggestions with both wireless and wired connections My CD / DAC and Streamer / DAC sound the same when playing the same red book files… from CD (I am using the same DAC I either scenario), stored files or streamed. This is true for me by design… getting the highest quality sound at my level of inve...
Base trap spacing @wolf_garcia It’s OK, we knew what he intended. Inhale… exhale… inhale… exhale 😊… there you go.
Help Me Downsize My Travel Rig I spent several decades in international travel with portable high end solutions… well before it was a thing. Go Delta Diamonds. I guess if I was still trying to take real high end audio on travel I would take my A&K SP2000, with the extra in... |
