Yes, another audiophile at a crossroads story and request for advice
Hi OP, I have been retired for five years. Before retirement, I went through the same kind of thinking. I upgraded so I would no longer have to make any more purchases. After retirement for a couple years I realized I could afford another upgrade...
How easily can you distinguish between different DACs?
True, looking at this as software. But ever subcomponents… resistor, capacitor, and turn on the circuit board… the distance between the power supply and all the other subcomponents, the resistance to vibration from the outside world makes a differ...
Speaker Cable Recommendation
@eastendhifi    Thank you.
New computer for Streaming????
Your dealer is terribly mistaken. PCs are terrible streamers. I have for over fifteen years tried all forms of streamers… PCs (with all sorts of modifications), MacBooks, iPads, inexpensive combined units. Finally dedicated streamers from $3K to ...
How Has Your Finely Tuned Audiophile Dexterity Helped You in Your "Other" Life?
@waytoomuchstuff Yes. Times change. Vietnam is now a great tourist destination. I’ve worked in Japan for a couple years finding the Japanese to be incredibly friendly, especially to Americans. Walking around Hiroshima was humbling. I worked in ...
Speaker cables recomendation for Luxman L509X / Dynaudio Contour 30i
I am familiar with the sound of both DynAudio and Luxman. Given your components and desire (Luxman being very sparkly and lean) Cardas Clear Reflection. They are likely to do exactly what you need. If you want more detail but still some added hef...
Benchmark or McIntosh....
Or if you want to split the difference go with a Pass X amp for details and a decent midrange with very good rhythm and pace and lots of power, or XA amp if you want even warmer midrange with details and great rhythm and pace.
ARC VSi75SE v. MF Nu-Vista 800
@arafiq   Actually what you say is completely consistent with the performance of these amps… for with someone who values lively detailed sound. Luxman would be perfect for you. Your comments on the Pass INT 25 sound right on, it is not that hig...

99%+ audiophiles are males.
When did you put the most effort in setting up your audio system?
@moguls  For me, the real fulfillment was the 5 - 7 years between upgrades. I love the time in between upgrades just appreciating the music and what I had accomplished. Then the couple years doing an upgrade… learning, slowly purchasing new and m...
Acoustically Treating a Bomb Shelter
I live up in Washington along the Columbia River. The Missoula Lake flood gravels have a lot of radon. We put in a radon exhaust system. Worth a test, just to verify.
Subwoofers: Ported or sealed?
@phusis   I actually had 4 B&W subs. Two for my audio system and two for my home theater. After I got these speakers I got rid of them. First I was very happy with the bass and coherence and I was liking less stuff taking up space.

OP,   On the topic of the Pass Integrated. I auditioned the INT 75 (and Luxman integrated $10K). What I was struck with was the excellent rhythm and pace of the Pass. It really got the beat with a pretty good midrange. I compared against the ARC...
