Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3? Agear, I'm fully aware that I'm seeking the "Holy Grail"...aren't we all? I've been on the merry-go-round for 25 years, chasing one more elusive "attribute", usually at the expense of another. With the Zu's, however, I don't feel any desire to ris...
Anyone listen to Zu Audio's Definition Mk3? Well...I've placed my order for the Mk.IV's. I've been using the Mk 1.9's for the last ~3.5 years. I've been using Atma-Sphere M60's and love the purity, speed and transparency. Hope the MkIV's take me even farther down the path to musical bliss?!...
Most forgiving high end speaker 10k-20k? I'm surprised Zu Definition Mk 4 ($12500) hasn't been noted yet. I have the Mk2, and have not yet heard the Mk4, but this was the speaker that got me off the audio merry-go-round several years ago. With other systems/speakers I TRIED to listen to ...
Atma Sphere S30 amp Glory, congrats on the discovering the magic of Atma-Sphere amps coupled with the right speaker. I love my M60's with the Defintions.
6sn7 tubes for Atma Sphere amp Congrats Glory! I have the Zu Definitions and use M60's. You are going to love the S-30!In the past I've tried older (1950's) NOS Sylvania and RCA, preferring RCA's in the top and bottom half of the cascode voltage amp positions (V2,V1 respectivel...
Sonus Faber Extrema and CJ MF2500A Not sure. The Extrema's are a difficult load. Love them, BTW! The old ARC D400 sounded wonderful on them. I think the D400 was around 240 - 300 w/ch, not that w/ch is really all relavent.
Opus 21 CD vs Mac Mini... Opus wins Just another thing to consider...the Opus21 is an excellent stand alone CD player, particularly with the GSNC reference mods. However, it may be that because of the high performance/value ratio, Jeff Kalt did not put alot of money or thought into ...
Tube-amp for Magnepan? lol...Chad, three strikes and you're out. My audiogon name is a reference to one of my dogs. I have an american show bred boxer and a german boxer. They're both great dogs, but its so interesting how much more developed the working drives and inst...
Tube-amp for Magnepan? Chadeffect, I wasn't suggesting the maggies were top notch in dynamic swings (and they certainly are not comparable in that area to the Trios), only that an assertion that maggies need powerful SS amps to swing dynamics is false. I would love to h...
Tube-amp for Magnepan? I would disagree with Chadeffect regarding dynamic swings, at least with regard to Atma-Sphere OTL tube amps on the maggies. Dynamic swings, particularly micro-dynamic swings (the most important for me) were outstanding with the MA1's.A good tube ...
Tube-amp for Magnepan? I owned the MG3.6's and powered them with Parasound JC1 mono's (400w/ch). I always took it as fact based on comments like those from Macdadtexas that the maggies needed big muscular SS power amps to sound their best. Those assumptions vanished whe...
Is Solid State Preamp and Tube Amp A Good Combo? I'm using a Rowland Capri linestage with Melody 300B SET amps and it works beautifully! I needed a pre that could be left on all the time, but couldn't give up the sound of tubes...result has been excellent! Not quite up to my Atma-Sphere / Atma-S...
Good $2k Used Speakers for 20wpc tube amp Highly recommend Zu Druids. I'm using an 8w 300B SET amp and they fill my large, open room beautifully. They can "rock" with 8w in my large room...with 20w/ch you could peel paint off the walls. They are very musical and coherent (being driven fro...
midrange forwardness DazzDax, The reason why many solid state amps may not sound right with the rising impedance in the low end on SoundLabs is that SS amps typically double in power with a halving of impedance. This also works in the other direction...they halve thei...
midrange forwardness Hi Dazzdax,I haven't personally heard the Soundlabs or the Gruensch amps, but most electrostatic speakers have an inverse relationship between impedance and frequency or at least they rise in the bass and likely drop in the treble. If the Gruensch... |
