Why do many discussions about sonic performance disintegrate into technical discusions?
atmasphere5,896 posts02-02-2018 8:23amGee, and all I'm trying to do is learn about the science behind the Synergistic blue fuse which uses Quantum Inductive Coupling. Can anyone explain that to me in a non-technical manner?Yes. Anytime you see t...
Why do many discussions about sonic performance disintegrate into technical discusions?
If I were trying to sell high end stuff on these forums based on anecdotal subjective sonic performance then I would not welcome technical comments, Correct as technical comments could prove that product to be unsuitable to do a specific job it m...
Biamping with very different amps
I’ve abandoned the crazy idea. As I said It’s not crazy, you said you have Kube level controls over both highs and lows .The Kube drives all your amps JC1’s on the bass and Cary’s on the mid/highs.You use your JC 2 BP as your main preamp to drive...
What’s in your system today that you also had 10 years ago?
What’s in your system today that you also had 10 years ago? Impedance matched Passive preamp 10, 20, 30 40 years ago Cheers George
Replace my DAC or not?
mbiondo The dac you have is great keep it, and being a ring-dac sounds very good with RedBook pcm cd's or downloads. If you don't plan to go DSD which I have never heard sound any better than well converted RedBook, stick with what you have and...
Are the Mods handling these forums as well as they could be? How can we help them?
Quite an admirable sentiment, however as they remain faceless we do not know whether any actually are? If any of them were licenced technicians, there’d be no way in the world they would sit back and let some of the outrageous dangerous mains stu...
Biamping with very different amps
Hi Al, not on the Kube I once had used, looks like the op’s one is different and has high and low gain controls, if so and he has the range to match the amps, then yes no need to use a Schiit passive then. If not get the Schiit is only $49. That w...
Are the Mods handling these forums as well as they could be? How can we help them?
The mods are doing a fine job. It would be nice if one or two of them were qualified technicians, to keep a safety handle on some of the dangerous pratices that some non qualified members tell the gullible members to do, especially regarding mains...
Dated but still A rated DACs
I am a HUGE fan of the 1704s and have owned numerous pieces, too many to count, with them. The 63s are something special. Had them both over many dacs and cdp's, and tinkered and modded them to the hilt. The PCM1704 is top dog for all Redbook ...
Biamping with very different amps
n any event, though, the KUBE would probably make that a moot point, while leaving the other issues I cited unresolved. If a Kube is used then it would drive the (lowest gain) poweramp and also the Schiit, which drives the (highest gain) poweramp...
Biamping with very different amps
george, the suggestion of using a volume control device such as Schiit Sys will not work in this particular situation since that will reduce the overall volume going into the preamp and not change the gain of the amplifier. Read again, the Shiit ...
Biamping with very different amps
roberjermanYou really need an active crossover to split the signal into high and low pass outputs to drive the bass and mid/high amps! An active crossover will allow you to set the roll-off slopes (not doeable with passive) and levels for the bes...
Integrateds: Why do they all SUCK?
I'm sure this doesn't suck.http://www.gryphon-audio.dk/products/integrated-amplifiers/diablo-300.aspxCheers George
Dated but still A rated DACs
Pass Labs D1, i havent found anything yet that beats it. Very nice old girl for doing Redbook with,  r2r multibit ladder dacs PCM63K's x 4 and discrete I/V stage, only the PCM1702's and then the last 1704's betters the 63's.Cheers George
Biamping with very different amps
Biamping with very different ampsI’m considering biamping the HF/MF units of KEF Reference 107/2s with a pair of Cary CAD 572SE monoblocks and the LF with a pair of Parasound JC 1 monoblocks. Does that seem a crazy idea? No not crazy, sweetness o...
