Fuses are not like cars. Especially the Blacks. They don't lose their value overnight. Sell the Blacks and buy the new Blues. Think of it as a cheap rental. Faint heart neer won fair maiden. I bet a cup of coffee previously owned Blacks will sell ...
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
Whoa! Chill out! What we have here is really just an excellent example of an appeal to authority. You know, an illogical argument. "I know how networked audio works (therefore you should believe my test and my conclusion that there can be no diffe...
Are future improvements in Amp/PreAmps slowing to a crawl?
Question: why be so concerned about distortion of the amplifier? Didn't we find out a long time ago that some amplifiers with relatively high THD - I.e., more than an order of magnitude higher than those amps with vanishing low THD - actually soun...
What's the weak link in my system?
Moving speakers around trying to find the best locations is like trying to solve 3 simultaneous equations in 4 unknowns. You'll never be able to find the absolute best locations without the out of phase track on the XLO Test CD. The best you can d...
how much should you spend on cable?
From the Roger Russell screed on everything you never wanted to know about audio cables:KIND OF WIRE MADE NO DIFFERENCEIt can be solid, stranded, copper, oxygen free copper, silver, etc.--or even "magic" wire--as long as the resistance is kept to ...

Geoffkait: "I once had coffee at a diner in NYC that boasted World’s Best Coffee."To which jujitsu replied,"For a purported expert of what constitutes valid testing you sure don’t understand the difference between an entirely subjective claim (tas...
how much should you spend on cable?
It's a little difficult to answer that question because I stopped using cables as well as interconnects and power cords a while back. But good luck with this thread anyway. 😀

Fuses are the new components. If anyone wants to replace his Black Fuses with Blue Fuses, list the Black ones on Audiogon. Just like any audio component he would wish to upgrade. Problem solved. Well, except for the break in. Ha ha!

Toddverrone wrote,@geoffkait, not sure if this is what you caught, but the electrons in a metal involved in metallic bonding are nonlocalized and don't 'stay' with an individual atom, even if they aren't flowing to propogate the signal. Bingo! Yes...

It’s never a perfect time to buy technology, it’s constantly changing/evolving. Don’t feel too blue for those millions who bough iPhone 7s recently or whatever. Don’t feel blue. Get it? 😰 Besides, it should have been a tip off when SR had a specia...

shadorne@geoffkait Sigh! Yes of course digital propagates as an analog signal. The key is to understand that the threshold between a 1 or a Zero is so large and that checksum and other additional packet error checking information allows a packet o...

shadorneSince there is no audio clock timing information conveyed over an ethernet cable it can’t make any difference at all UNLESS your gear is crap (something extraneous affected by the cable used like grounding or load or digital noise related ...
Most Important, Unloved Cable...
Ouch! That hurts, Shadorne! That’s really interesting but did you know that the digital cable between the CD player and the amp, you know, the one that carries digital data is directional? Bet ya didn’t. 😄 Digital, schmigital. The signal propagate...

Pop Quiz! Spot the discrepancies (errors) in the write up for the Blue Fuse on SR web site. Put to use what you’ve learned here on Audiogon this year. I give partial credit.Today physicists understand electrons don’t flow at all but rather propaga...

Geoffkait: Whoa! Easy, big fella. I’m not talking about shielded cables.to which jujitsu replied,"If it's not about the shield on a STP Ethernet cable, then it's not going to be anything else. Ethernet is either wired TIA586A or TIA586B straight...
