A very good ENGINEERING explanation of why analog can not be as good as digital..
Elizabeth, yes, I listen to portable CD and cassette players. I see you were able to decipher my comment. An ordinary man has no means of deliverance.Knowledge is what’s left after you subtract out everything you forgot from school.

No offense to anyone but the color black on the outer edge hurts the sound. Some folks have even painted the entire label side black for all the CDs in their big collection. Big mistake. However, black and only black should be used for the inner e...

ieales, you’re probably thinking of mixing paints, like red + green = brown. Be that as it may I’m referring to light. Green is red’s complement. Nice try, anyway. And thanks for mentioning my company’s name.

3 guesses, the first 2 don’t count. 😬
Is this the end of HEA?
Another clue was the decision by John Curl and Bob Crump around twenty years ago - my how time flies! - to design and produce what are probably best referred to as entry level high end, I.e., more affordable, products like JC-1, and abandon their ...

barnettk OP196 posts12-29-2018 10:28am@geoffkait thsts a good explanation at least. Most people just say it’s magic. We will see if anyone else adds to it. So reducing read errors and adding weight to the outer edge does that make the music sound ...

The reason the ring has to be green is because green is the complementary color of red, which means red + green = blackI should warn you, however, the CD laser wavelength is actually around 780 nm, which is in the near infrared portion of the elec...

last_lemmingY’all need to listen to Peter’s (Soundsmith) latest talk at 2018 RMAF. He says even analog is digital and it appears to be true. >>>>Well, you could also say that digital is to a large degree analog.last_lemmingNow compare ...

Putting a green ring around the edge of a CD does two things. 1. It stabilizes the disc while spinning by adding mass to the outer circumference, thus reducing optical read errors. CDs are often out of round and or not perfectly level whilst playi...
Most well rounded LS3/5A-inspired speaker?
I’ve seen the innards of an LS3/5a and that kit doesn’t resemble the complicated crossover of the LS3/5a at all. The crossover in an LS3/5a resembles a small amplifier.

If you think putting little green rings around the edge of CDs is kind of kooky you would probably think the things do routinely verges on satanism. You’re gonna have a field day with me. You just a big skeptic, aren’t you? Lol

That’s because the bits need to break in, obviously.
Is it all in my head??
That’s a bit of a Strawman argument regarding audiophiles and friends describing prof’s sound as “so real it’s spooky” since, uh, you know, most audiophiles are not good judges of what’s real and what’s not. Oh, did I just question another person’...
