High Ceiling Room Treatment Help
I would avoid foam. Use Corner Tunes or Golden Sound's Acoustic Discs for room corners.
Power cords?
On the other hand, isn't that just putting off the inevitable? Doesn't it make more sense to just bite the bullet and spring for one of those high-priced power cords, you know, the ones everyone raves about? You know you want to.
ARC tube CD players - Burn in
Djcxxx, Are you saying nothing else in your system has changed in three years? That must be some sort of record. I was under the distinct impression audiophiles generally changed things frequently, if not continuously.

Alert - possible double postThe really interesting thing about crystals is that they can absorb vibrations of many frequencies - including Very Low frequencies! As when crystals are used in room corners. I suspect focusing on non-audio application...

Rodman, I agree with your point wrt the passive nature of Shakti however there is a significant difference between the Shakti Stone and a single crystal or even group of crystals we see in some audio applications. That difference is that for Shakt...

Just as a side note, the crystal in the Shakti Stone is part of an electrical circuit, albeit a passive one.

IMO the only way the crystal as it is used on the cartridge could operate by absorbing or dissipating RFI/EMI is if it acted like a magnet for RFI/EMI, pulling in the offending electromagnetic fields like a black hole pulling in matter beyond the ...

CD Tweeks...Improve Ripped SQ?
The same reasons why treated CDs sound better than untreated CDs apply to why ripped files produced by treated CDs sound better than ripped files produced by untreated CDs. This is precisely why I say the bits is bits argument doesn't hold water. ...
CD Tweeks...Improve Ripped SQ?
While it's possible that some fault with the system is producing some effects. However, the problem with the theory of mysterious intervention is that results of treating CDs by coloring, demagnetizing, reducing static fields, using cleaners and o...

I suppose it should be mentioned that Acoustic Revive's little QR-8 smokey quartz crystal is also recommended for the cartridge body, along with other resonance targets of opportunity. Of course, be wary of over dumping. From Acoustic Revive's web ...
Damping the analogue "setup"
Just in case ,it hasn't been mentiooned already on this thread i suspect in most cases the best sonic results will be obtained with no rack, i.e., placing the components directly on the floor (on spikes). Most racks actually amplify and exacerbate...

Color the outer edge of the CD PURPLE and the inner edge BLACK prior to ripping. This basic color scheme is guaranteed to improve the sound of the final product. This color scheme also works for standard CDs, DVDs, SACDs and BLU RAY discs.
Can Digital beat our Analog installations?
In 2002 at the CES high end audio show of the six best sounding systems in the show as judged by senior audiophile reviewers all except one was digital. The one judged the best of show was all digital. Note to self: that was almost 12 years ago!
