why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
Mapman, obsess much about what other folks spend on audio?
why do people feel the need to buy expensive cable
By and large, according to many reviews and many comments by individuals, and regardless of whatever silly arguments naysayers might come up with, the more expensive cables are the best sounding cables. That is not to say that the most expensive c...

Nothing is guaranteed to deliver certain results. Do you make this stuff up, Batman? Funny how an audio cheapskate shows up on threads about expensive gear. Revenge of the nerds?
Cable Cooking/Burnin
Oh, so now we're justifying audio purchases? Interesting. You mean like Shakti Hollograms, Franck Chang silver and platinum little tiny bowls, Lessloss Blackbody, SteinMusic Harmonizer, and Walker Audio Black Diamond doo dad for stereo cartridges?...
Disappointing audition after great review
The chances look good they botched the demo.
Cable Cooking/Burnin
I use the burn in track of the XLO test CD which can be put on REPEAT and played continuous for say one day or two days or a week or more. At any point along the way one can audition the system to see how the sound is coming along. In the case of ...

Cables that do not have a drain wire are also directional due the directionality of the conductor. So, hopefully whoever attached the drain wire in thise cables was aware of the inherent directionality of the conductor, otherwise the cable with dr...
A month of tweaks
Good on ya mate! By the way, while you're at it you might give serious consideration to cleaning all of the wall outlets in the house, the ones currently in use by appliances, TV, computers, etc. When there is micro arcing at the the plug connecti...

I'm off that particular merry go round. My system has only the very thin wires connecting the lightweight earphones to the portable player. I eschew all other cables, interconnects, power cords, digital cable, what have you.
LS50 and Big Fat Dots
Spikes are not mechanical diodes unless they are conical in shape. Cones are mechanical diodes as are spikes that look like cones. That's why when you flip the cones upside down - with points up - the system sounds worse. Hel-loo!
Hybrid SACDs or CDs for Redbook Playback
question - are SACDs compressed like Redbook CDs, you know, loudness wars and everything? maybe the industry considers SACDs off limits for aggressive dynamic range compression since more mature listeners presumably purchase SACDs.
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
When I first got into the audio business I was driving Alfa Romeos. Now I'm driving a Schwinn.
Clear Day Interconnects
I always reverse ICs regardless of direction of arrows, you know, just in case they actually sound better that way. It's not that I don't trust them. ;-)
LS50 and Big Fat Dots
Nothing personal, just expressing my opinion. Which actually supports the idea that spikes and cones are acting like diodes.
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
I find the sound without any connection whatsoever to house AC is quite extraordinary. No AC power, no power cords, no transformers. Live and let die. :-)
