Jumper Cables - use the stock or should they be upgraded ?
I sort of agree with czarivey. There is a lot of snake oil in the cabling business, in my opinion. Though you have a pair of Cardas, I wouldn't be slavish and get a matching pair, especially if the cost was not affordable. There are many other cabl...
Components I would have died for when I was a wee pup
I started a little later, like the mid '80's.So, more like a Rega Planar with a SME 3, a pair of Vandy 2's, I forget what I wanted for amp and pre- but the preamp was tubed. A pair of DQ-10's also made me drool. I ended up with a BIC Soundspan 600...
Best car audio, Burmester? highly disapointed
I share your pain gago, I bought a '16 TTS with B&O sound, and it is the most disappointing sound system I have ever heard. My previous '11TTS had Bose which I found to be quite satisfactory. ' What a waste of money and the name'. You are sp...
Shopping for new speakers
If you like B&W, you would probably like Vandersteen's, and your amps would certainly be able to drive a pair of 3a sigs which are well below $3K used.
List of albums that will still be popular 50 years from now...
+1 mofimadness, those were some good albums.I find the saddest part of music today is the loss of the album structure. I can only hope future generations will rediscover how we used to listen to music.
Help Choosing Speakers
As been stated before, a McCormack amp would be a great synergistic and cost effective way to get more power. I have a DNA-1 with updates and it mates great with my 3a sig's.If you really want to go cheap (price-wise), a used Adcom 555 would give ...
New Mag-Lev Turntable
I been following this for a while. I might consider buying one solely for a collector's item. Does anyone know how good the tone arm and cartridge are. My biggest concern is what happens if it needs servicing and the company is not around anymore?
Room treatment-I was afraid of this
+1 for nonoise.Going from such a large room to a smaller room is sure to give you problems you never imagined.IMHO, I think you are now listening to the speakers directly, rather than having sound reflected (-which I love, Dr. Bose was on to somet...

Since you need an efficient speaker, I would also remind you about the Zu speakers. I own a pair of Union and a pair of Omen Bookshelf speakers. Both are quite capable-a little different from the Vandy's, but very listenable( I bought them to see ...
Looking for seperates under $5k~
Okay, I'll bite.First,I assume you are buying used.As a 'bang for buck' guy, I recommend a McCormack amp and Preamp.A DNA-.5 and a RLD pre could be had for a little over $1K and upgraded by SMc for under your $5K total.
Help Choosing Speakers
As a Vandy owner, I think if you are considering the Vandy 1's or 2's, you should get at least one or better yet, a pair of 2w subs. Since the Vandy sub crossover (M5-HP) will filter out low frequencies, you probably wouldn't have to get a more po...
How does high-pass filter requirement affect system decisions?
I would contact Mr. Vandersteen and ask for his opinion. There's nothing better than from the 'horse's mouth.
WiFi System Upgrades
A +1 to Williewonka, I love my Bifrost multibit. Though I am using the USB, I have to say I have no complaints. When things slow down, I will also try to compare with Spdif.

+1 for the Zu line.Very efficient, very clean, very detailed sound. If you buy direct, they have a trial period, too. So, you can evaluate them.
Intermittent electrical noise in system
Well, if it is intermittent, can you try to isolate it by turning off major appliances, or try to see if something like the fridge is causing this?I am no electrical engineer, but it sounds like something in your house is periodically running and ...
